    Abstract: The disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). A method of a user equipment is provided. The method includes identifying a first bandwidth part for a cell and a second bandwidth part for the cell through radio resource control signaling; identifying a first control resource set on the first bandwidth part and a second control resource set on the second bandwidth part through the radio resource control signaling; and acquiring downlink control information for the second bandwidth part based on the first control resource set on the first bandwidth part being activated. A bandwidth part indicator, a frequency domain resource assignment, and a time domain resource assignment are included in the downlink control information.

    Abstract: A terminal for managing a bandwidth part in a wireless communication system is provided. The terminal includes a transceiver and at least one processor configured to receive, from a base station, a first radio resource control (RRC) message including a bandwidth part (BWP) configuration, receive, from the base station, downlink control information including a bitmap indicating whether each of at least one downlink (DL) BWP is activated as a first BWP or a second BWP, wherein the first BWP is configured with a non-dormant BWP in the first RRC message, and the second BWP is configured with a dormant BWP in the first RRC message, when a first bit of the bitmap is 0, determine an active DL BWP corresponding to the first bit as the second BWP, and when the first bit of the bitmap is 1, determine whether a current active DL BWP corresponding to the first bit is the second BWP, when the current active DL BWP is the second BWP, set the current active DL BWP to the first BWP, and when the current active DL BWP is not the second BWP, determine to maintain the current active DL BWP.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for a wireless communication system in which configuration information on a search space for monitoring a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) is received from a base station. The configuration information includes information on a plurality of control resource sets (CORESETs) for the PDCCH. A PDCCH candidate set is identified for each of the plurality of CORESETs, based on the configuration information and an offset. The offset is used to adjust an index of a control channel element (CCE) in each PDCCH candidate set. The search space is determined based on the identified PDCCH candidate set for each of the plurality of CORESETs. The PDCCH is monitored based on the determined search space.

    Abstract: A communication scheme and a system thereof are provided for converging IoT technology and a 5G communication system for supporting a high data transmission rate beyond that of a 4G system. The disclosure can be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology. The disclosure provides a method of minimizing a handover delay and a handover failure possibility of the terminal in a mobile communication system, which includes receiving a handover command from a first BS; performing DL synchronization with a second BS; determining whether a first UL signal to be transmitted to the first BS and a second UL signal to be transmitted to the second BS overlap; and in response to determining that the first UL signal and the second UL signal overlap, transmitting the second UL signal to the second BS, wihtout transmitting the first UL signal to the first BS.
