Abstract: A method, a computing device, and a non-transitory machine-readable medium for performing a multipath selection based on a determined quality of service for the paths. An example method includes a host computing device periodically polling a storage system for path information including an indication of a recommended storage controller. The host computing device periodically determines a quality of service information corresponding to a plurality of paths between the host computing device and a storage volume of the storage system, where at least one of the plurality of paths including the recommended storage controller. The host computing device identifies a fault corresponding to a path of the plurality of paths that routes I/O from the host computing device to the storage volume. The host computing device re-routes the I/O from the path to a different path of the plurality of paths, where the different path is selected for the re-routing based on the quality of service information and the path information.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for object store mirroring. Data within a storage tier of a node may be determined as being data to tier out to a primary object store based upon a property of the data. A first object is generated to comprise the data. A second object is generated to comprise the data. The first object is transmitted to the primary data store for storage in parallel with the second object being transmitted to a mirror object store for storage. Tiering of the data is designated as successful once acknowledgements are received from both the primary object that the first object was stored and the mirror object store that the second object was stored.

Abstract: One or more techniques and/or computing devices are provided for snapshot creation. For example, a request may be received to create a snapshot of a first storage object, hosted by a first storage controller, having a synchronous replication relationship with a second storage object hosted by a second storage controller. A coordinator workflow is initialized to issue a drain and hold request to a splitter. Responsive to an indication that the splitter has stopped processing and started queuing incoming write operations and has drained current write operations based upon the drain and hold request, snapshot creation requests are sent to the first storage controller and the second storage controller. Responsive to the first storage controller creating a first snapshot of the first storage object and the second storage controller creating a second snapshot of the second storage object, the splitter may be resumed to process write operations.

Abstract: Methods and systems for a networked storage system is provided. One method includes creating a first snapshot for data units stored at a persistent memory of a computing device, the data units managed by a first file system; transferring metadata associated with the data units and the data units stored at the persistent memory to a storage device managed by a second file system using a logical object, the second file system executed by a storage system interfacing with the computing device; and generating a second snapshot of the logical object at the storage device, the second snapshot including data units and associated metadata of the first snapshot.

Abstract: One or more techniques and/or computing devices are provided for inline deduplication. For example, a checksum hash table and/or a block number hash table may be maintained within memory (e.g., a storage controller may maintain the hash tables in-core). The checksum hash table may be utilized for inline deduplication to identify potential donor blocks that may comprise the same data as an incoming storage operation. Data within an in-core buffer cache is eligible as potential donor blocks so that inline deduplication may be performed using data from the in-core buffer cache, which may mitigate disk access to underlying storage for which the in-core buffer cache is used for caching. The block number hash table may be used for updating or removing entries from the hash tables, such as for blocks that are no longer eligible as potential donor blocks (e.g., deleted blocks, blocks evicted from the in-core buffer cache, etc.).

Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to techniques for reducing the time required for a node to take over for a failed node or to boot. An apparatus includes an access component to retrieve a metadata from a storage device coupled to a first D-module of a first node during boot, the metadata generated from a first mutable metadata portion and an immutable metadata portion, and the first metadata specifying a first address of a second D-module of a second node; a replication component to contact the second data storage module at the first address; and a generation component to, in response to failure of the contact, request a second mutable metadata portion from a N-module of the first node and generate a second metadata from the second mutable metadata portion and the immutable metadata portion, the second mutable metadata portion specifying a second address of the second D-module.

Abstract: A migration plan is created that is based at least in part on an operator input. The resources of a destination file system are provisioned based on the migration plan. One or more processes to migrate the source file system for the provisioned resources of the destination file system are then configured based on the migration plan.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for synchronous replication based cutover. An asynchronous replication process is executed to perform asynchronous incremental transfers of data of a storage object from a first computing environment to a replicated storage object at a second computing environment until a cutover criteria is met. A synchronous replication process is executed to synchronously replicate operations, targeting the storage object, to the replicated storage object based upon the cutover criteria being met. A cutover is performed to direct operations from targeting the storage object to targeting the replicated storage object based upon the synchronous replication process reaching a steady state of synchronous replication for sub-objects of the storage object, where operations are committed to both the storage object and the replicated storage object.

Abstract: One or more techniques and/or devices are provided for storage virtual machine relocation (e.g., ownership change) between storage clusters. For example, operational statistics of a first storage cluster and a second storage cluster may be evaluated to identify a set of load balancing metrics. Ownership of one or more storage aggregates and/or one or more storage virtual machines may be changed (e.g., permanently changed for load balancing purposes or temporarily changed for disaster recovery purposes) between the first storage cluster and the second storage cluster utilizing zero-copy ownership change operations based upon the set of load balancing metrics. For example, if the first storage cluster is experiencing a relatively heavier load of client I/O operations and the second storage cluster has available resources, ownership of a storage aggregate and a storage virtual machine may be switched from the first storage cluster to the second storage cluster for load balancing.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for remote object store error handling. A storage system may store data within one or more tiers of storage, such as a local storage tier (e.g., solid state storage and disks maintained by the storage system), a remote object store (e.g., storage provided by a third party storage provider), and/or other storage tiers. Because the remote object store may not provide the same data consistency and guarantees that the storage system provides for clients such as through the local storage tier, additional validation is provided by the storage system for the remote object store. For example, when data is put into an object of the remote object store, a verification get operation is performed to read and validate information within a header of the object. Other verifications and checks are performed such as using a locally stored metafile to detect corrupt or lost metadata and/or objects.
