    Abstract: An upright surface cleaning apparatus comprises a floor cleaning head and an upright section moveably mounted to the surface cleaning head. The upright section has a filtration member housing and a suction motor housing. The filtration member housing has a filtration member, an air inlet, an air outlet, an openable top wall and an openable bottom wall and the suction motor housing has a suction motor and an open top. A pre-motor filter is removably receivable in the open top of the suction motor housing. The filtration member housing is removably positionable on the suction motor housing and the filtration member housing seals the open top of the suction motor housing when the filtration member housing is positioned on the suction motor housing whereby the pre-motor filter is revealed when the filtration member hosing is removed. When the filtration member housing is positioned on the suction motor housing, the air outlet of the filtration member housing faces an upstream surface of the pre-motor filter.

    Abstract: A portable vacuum cleaner has an air treatment chamber, a pre-motor filter positioned downstream from the air treatment chamber, a body including a suction motor, the suction motor is positioned in the air flow passage downstream from the pre-motor filter. A handle is provided on the body. The pre-motor filter has a first end, an axially spaced apart second end, a sidewall extends between the first end of the pre-motor filter and the axially spaced apart second end, wherein the sidewall comprises a filter material surrounding an open interior providing a filtered air flow path, the axially spaced apart second end is open whereby, after passing through the sidewall, air enters the filtered air flow path and passes through the open axially spaced apart second end. The longitudinal air treatment chamber axis and the motor axis extend in the same direction and each extend through the open interior.

    Abstract: A hand vacuum includes a nozzle portion at a front end of the hand vacuum having a dirty air inlet. An air flow passage extends from the dirty air inlet to a clean air outlet in a main body rearward of the nozzle portion. The main body houses a suction motor in the air flow passage. First and second laterally spaced apart opposed arm members extend between the nozzle portion and the main body, and a volume is positioned between the nozzle portion, the main body and the opposed arm members. An air treatment member assembly comprising an air treatment member is removably positionable in the volume. When the air treatment member assembly is mounted to the hand vacuum cleaner in an operating position, the air treatment member assembly is positioned in the volume and the air treatment member is positioned in the air flow path.
