Abstract: Methods to enhance the coverage of NR systems for coverage-limited wireless devices are disclosed. A serving base station may configure a coverage-limited UE with parameters for the UE to operate in a coverage enhancement mode through RRC signaling, DCI, or RAR grant. The UE may use the configuration parameters to determine whether to enter into the coverage enhancement mode when connecting and communicating with the serving base station. The configuration parameters may configure the UE to exploit both time diversity and frequency diversity to extend and enhance coverage when receiving the PDSCH and PDCCH channels, when transmitting the PUSCH and PUCCH channel, and when transmitting PUSCH Msg3 during random access. Advantageously, the base station may flexibly and dynamically configure the UE with coverage enhancement parameters to extend the coverage of the UE using time diversity and frequency diversity gains as the UE moves around.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE), or other network component can operate to configure different sets of resources including different sequence lengths for an uplink (UL) transmission via a UL channel. A first length or at least one of different second lengths can be selected to configure the UL transmission based on one or more conditions, which can include a coexisting radio access technology (RAT), a UE capability, an occupied channel bandwidth (OCB), the type of UL transmission or the like. The UL transmission can be based on at least one of: the first or the second sequence length such as for an initial access procedure based on the coexisting RAT and the OCB, for example.

Abstract: An apparatus may receive a media access control (MAC) control element (CE) from a base station (BS) indicating a secondary cell (SCell) to be activated in an unlicensed band. The apparatus may initiate a timer with an end value in response to receiving the MAC CE and may further adjust a radio-frequency (RF) chain from a first state to a second state corresponding to the SCell to be activated. The apparatus may determine, based on measurements of one or more synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) transmitted from the BS indicating one or more listen before talk (LBT) failures corresponding to the SCell, one or more failed SSB transmissions corresponding to the SCell. Accordingly, the apparatus may readjust, in response to expiry of the timer, the RF chain from the second state to the first state and receive one or more additional SSBs in the first state.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods to enhance system performance (e.g., UL throughput) without impinging on (e.g., tightening) processing timeline for UL-SCH data and/or CSI reporting. A base station may request for a UE to send a CSI report(s) during PDCCH monitoring. The base station may also request the UE to send UL-SCH data. At a first transmit opportunity, the UE may transmit first PUSCH (including UL-SCH data that may be multiplexed onto the first PUSCH). Additionally, at a second (later) transmit opportunity, the UE may transmit second PUSCH (including the CSI report(s) that may be multiplexed onto the second PUSCH). The second transmit opportunity may be identified as a transmit opportunity starting at least a specified number of symbols after a first symbol of the first repetition. The specified number of symbols may be dependent upon at least one of UE uplink processing time capabilities or SCS.

Abstract: A wireless network may include a base station and user equipment (UE). The UE may transmit uplink (UL) signals to the base station using a dynamically adjustable maximum UL duty cycle. When the UE identifies that a user is in proximity to the UE, the UE may transmit an indicator to the base station. The indicator may identify that a radio-frequency exposure (RFE) event has occurred and/or a suggested maximum UL duty cycle that would allow the UE to satisfy limits on RFE. The base station may limit a UL grant to the UE so that the UE performs subsequent communications using the suggested maximum UL duty cycle or a different maximum UL duty cycle. Coordinating adjustment of UL duty cycle in this way may allow the UE to meet limits on RFE without requiring the UE to perform maximum transmit power level reductions.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and circuitries are provided for performing sidelink communication. An example method indicates a frequency resource reservation in sidelink control information (SCI). The method includes identifying a transport block (TB) for transmission to a UE; determining a total number of sub-channels (NSL) in a resource pool for sidelink communication, a number of sub-channels (Lsub) of the TB, a first starting sub-channel index x1 of a first retransmission of the TB, and a second starting sub-channel index x2 of a second retransmission of the TB. The method includes determining a frequency resource indication value (FRIV) based on NSL, LSUB, x1, and x2, wherein the FRIV represents a result of a predetermined function of Lsub, x1, and x2 that generates a unique value for possible combinations of Lsub, x1, and x2. The FRIV is encoded in SCI and the SCI is transmitted to the UE.

The device may transmit to the base station signaling associated with connecting to the base station if the base station indicates that the type of devices with reduced capabilities is allowed to access the wireless communication network. The signaling allows the device to connect to the base station. The device may transmit capability information of the device to the base station. The device may configure its features based on the capability information to communicate with the base station.
