Abstract: The invention is directed to a two panel drapery lining. Each panel includes a vertical hem formed by folding over one vertical edge of each panel and stitching along a vertical line so as to leave a channel formed between the hem and an opposing portion of the panel. The vertical stitching line includes a gap so as to leave an opening into the channel. A magnetic sealing strip removably is disposable within the channels by insertion into the channel through the opening. When the panels are overlapped, the inner vertical edges may be secured to each other by the magnetic sealing strips.

Abstract: A motor-operated panel system includes a panel assembly consisting of an elongated flexible web formed of a plurality of different panels connected end-to-end for controlling the transmission of light, heat or air through a window and/or for producing different decorative scenes within a room. The panel assembly is wound on substantially identical elongated and spacedly arranged hollow rollers including an upper roller which contains a reversible motor, gear train, magnetic brake and a position sensor totally within the interior of the upper hollow roller. The position sensor serves to sense the absolute rotational position of the upper roller. The lower roller contains a torsional spring which is prewound to exert a pulling torque on the panel assembly, which torque is normally resisted by the magnetic brake in the upper roller. The panel system is controlled remotely from a panel control which may be wall mounted, communicating with the panel system via a data bus. Several panel systems may be controlled from a single panel control and/or any panel system may be operable from more than one panel control.

Abstract: An improved method for draping curtains which allows one person to form a decorative window treatment known as a bishop tail without requiring any specialized skills or training. The method described hereinafter allows a fabric scarf to be draped from a rod of conventional configuration in a decorative manner about a window opening. The method uses hook and loop type fasteners means to secure the fabric scarf to the rod and thereby prevent the fabric scarf from sagging at the top. Curtain rings are placed over the ends of the depending fabric scarf and then installed on the rod near its ends to allow a portion of the fabric scarf to form a decorative downwardly curved arc of fabric. The newly formed arc is then "dressed" or folded into pleats in accordance with the teaching of U.S. Pat. No. 5,146,972 to William L. Tacchella. A hook closure ring is then installed through the previously hemmed edges of the fabric scarf and hung by a cord from the wall bracket to form the bishop tail.An alternate embodiment is shown with a pair of bishop sleeves placed below the previously described bishop tail of the preferred embodiment. A second section of fabric scarf is hemmed on one edge and hung by a hook closure ring from the bracket behind the first bishop sleeve. The depending portion of the draped end of the fabric scarf is gathered and placed within a hook closure ring. The hook closure ring is then suspended by a pinch ring from the rear of the fabric scarf to form a bishop sleeve. The process is then repeated for the other side of the window.

Abstract: A window covering typically used for irregular shaped windows. The cover includes a frame having two ends that can be connected together, such that the frame encloses and defines a curtain area that generally approximates the shape of the window. The frame is typically constructed from a metal tube bent into the desired shape. The window cover also includes a curtain that has a pocket along one edge. The pocket is adapted to be pulled over the tubing to attach the curtain to frame. To assemble the cover, the ends of the frame are disconnected and one end is inserted into the pocket of the curtain. The curtain is pulled over the tubing until the pocket extends around the entire length of the frame. The curtain is typically constructed to cover the curtain area within the frame. Abstract: A temporary detachable doorway screen apparatus for a doorway in a dwelling comprises a flexible sheet of screening material shaped to cover the enclosed area within the open doorway. The flexible sheet is made from a flexible polymeric material which allows the entire screen to be rolled up or unrolled for use. The sheet of screen material is provided as a pair of side-by-side screen sections normally separated from one another and overlapping vertically along a central portion of the screen to form an opening along the overlapped portions of the screen sections. An elongated tension rod secured to the top portion of the screen is adjustable in length and applies spring pressure at its ends to the side of the door frame members for frictionally and releasably holding the tension rod above the doorway. This holds the flexible screen in position to cover the doorway. Spaced apart fastener elements are provided along the overlapping central opening in the screen sections and along the outer vertical marginal edges of the screen. The fasteners releasably attach the sides of the screen to the side members of the door frame to provide a non-marring means for easily fastening the flexible screen in a temporary fixed and closed position over the doorway. The fasteners also allow the central opening of the screen to be easily opened for passage through the screen. The entire screen can be easily detached in a non-marring fashion from the door frame for easy removal of the temporary screen.
