    Abstract: In embodiments, a base station may send to a user equipment (UE) a P3 beam management (BM) channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) having two ports, and may receive from the UE a P3 BM report in response. The P3 BM report may include a proactive UE beam switch indication and a CSF report corresponding to the best UE beam determined by a UE based on the P3 BM CSI-RS. The base station may determine whether the P3 BM report includes an indication that the UE will perform a beam switch from a first UE beam to a second UE beam, and may determine a UE beam switch slot during which the UE will perform the beam switch. Starting at the beam switch slot, the base station may send a physical downlink shared data channel (PDSCH) transmission to the UE using the adjusted downlink transmission parameters.

    Abstract: A phase tracking reference signal (PTRS) may be enhanced to carry data encoded with a relative low modulation and coding scheme (MCS). A receive device may receiving a data channel, the data channel including a transport block encoded using a first MCS. The receiving device may receiving a PTRS interleaved with the data channel. The PTRS is encoded with the second MCS that is lower than the first MCS. The receiving device may decode the PTRS to determine PTRS data. The receiving device may track phase noise using the PTRS data as a transmitted sequence of the PTRS. The receiving device may decode the transport block for the data channel based on the first MCS and the tracked phase noise.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may determine a set of groups of layers relating to a set of transport blocks (TBs) or a set of code division multiplexing (CDM) groups. The UE may group the layers such that the layers in each group have a minimal difference in signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) between the layers. The UE may select a different demodulation reference signal (DMRS) configuration for each of the set of groups of layers based on maximizing a communication efficiency metric for each group of layers. The UE may transmit an indication of the selected DMRS configurations for each group of layers to a base station via a field in a report. The base station may accordingly determine a DMRS configuration for each group of layers based on the DMRS configurations indicated by the UE.

    Abstract: Embodiments include systems and methods for communicating information in a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) message. A processor of a wireless device may configure a PUCCH message to include an uplink message in a short data field. The processor may send the PUCCH message including the short data field to convey the uplink message to a communication network. In some embodiments, the processor may receive data from a second wireless device in a downlink channel, and may generate an acknowledgement message responsive to the received data. The processor may configure the short data field to include the acknowledgement message, and may send the PUCCH message including the short data field that includes the acknowledgement message to acknowledge the received data.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may determine to apply tone reservation to a downlink transmission from the base station to a user equipment (UE), and may select to rate match data of the downlink transmission around selected resource elements for the tone reservation instead of puncturing the data of the downlink transmission. The base station may transmit, to the UE, a message indicating that tone reservation is applied to the downlink transmission via rate matching, and transmit the downlink transmission including the data rate matched around the selected resource elements used for tone reservation. The UE may identify the selected resource elements used for tone reservation based on an estimation of a channel between the UE and the base station, and decode the data of the downlink transmission via rate matching around the selected resource elements used for tone reservation.
