    Abstract: Methods of enabling and disabling a decoder-side motion vector refinement (DMVR) video decoder and/or encoder are described. One example method includes determining a width (W) and a height (H) of a video block, making a determination, based on a condition of the video block, between enabling and disabling a decoder side motion vector refinement step for a conversion between the video block and a coded representation of the video block, in a case that the determination is enabling, performing the conversion by enabling the decoder side motion vector refinement step; and in a case that the determination is disabling, performing the conversion by disabling the decoder side motion vector refinement step, wherein the decoder side motion vector refinement step includes refining value of a motion vector signaled in the coded representation and using the refined value during the conversion.

    Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for digital video coding, which includes inter prediction with refinement, are described. An exemplary method of video processing includes determining to use, for a conversion between a current block of a video and a bitstream representation of the video, a first linear optimization model for the conversion using a first coding mode, the first linear optimization model being derived from a second linear optimization model that is used for the conversion using a second coding mode, and performing, based on the determining, the conversion. Another exemplary method of video processing includes determining to use, for a conversion between a current block of a video and a bitstream representation of the video, a gradient value computation algorithm for a bi-directional optical flow tool, and performing, based on the determining, the conversion.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a solution for video processing. A method for video processing is proposed. The method comprises: constructing, during a conversion between a target block of a video and a bitstream of the video, a list of motion candidates for motion information for the target block; determining a reordering scheme based at least in part on coding information, the reordering scheme indicating whether and/or how at least one motion candidate in the list of motion candidates is to be reordered; generating a target list of motion candidates from the list of motion candidates according to the reordering scheme; and deriving the motion information for the target block from the target list of motion candidates. Compared with the conventional solution, the proposed method can advantageously improve the coding effectiveness and coding efficiency.
