Systems, methods, and devices for communicating data in a wireless communications network are described herein. In some aspects, an access point transmits a beacon to a station. The beacon comprises a Wi-Fi Protected Access II pre-sharked key (WPA2-PSK) authentication type. The access point further receives an authentication request from the station. The access point further transmits an authentication response to the station. The authentication response comprises the WPA2-PSK authentication type. The access point further retrieves a PSK and generates a PMK based on the PSK. The access point further receives an association request from the station after generation of the PMK. The association request comprises a key confirmation derived from the PSK. The access point further transmits an association response to the station in response to reception of the association request. The association response comprises the key confirmation.

Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication are provided. In an embodiment, a method of wireless communication includes receiving, at an access point, a probe request from a wireless device, transmitting a probe response including shared access point state information, receiving an association request including an indication that the wireless device has stored the shared access point state information, and transmitting an association response conditionally including the shared access point state information based on the indication in the association request.

A method includes receiving, at a network node, a device-to-device D2D discovery request from a first device and sending a D2D discovery response from the network node to the first device. The D2D discovery response includes information associated with a second device that is available to establish a D2D connection with the first device. The network node may perform inquiries regarding D2D connection permission from both devices. If D2D connection is permitted by both devices, the network node may facilitate the D2D scanning by sending each device's scanning information to the other device via a non-D2D link. In parallel to D2D scanning, the network node may speed up D2D link setup by distributing, via non-D2D links, link setup information to each device, where the link setup information may include device credential(s), IP address allocation(s), and/or group owner assignment.

Systems and methods are provided to improve roaming performance and to minimize disruptions in connectivity. When roaming between a source AP and a target AP, the device determines whether the APs employ different gateways, such as through an ARP exchange. If the source and target APs have different gateways, a DHCP exchange is used to renew the IP address of the device to restore network connectivity.

A method includes sending, from a first transmitter to a first receiver, a request to send (RTS) message associated with a first transmit opportunity (TXOP). The RTS message requests the first receiver to indicate whether reuse of the first TXOP is permitted. The method further includes receiving, at the first transmitter from the first receiver, a clear to send (CTS) message responsive to the RTS message.

A method of automatically configuring a wireless device includes performing service discovery by the wireless device to identify a programming module and sending to the programming module a probe request including a first device public key. Systems and methods for formatting frames in neighborhood aware networks are described herein. One aspect of the subject matter described in the disclosure provides a method of communicating in a wireless neighborhood aware network (NAN). The method includes determining at least one connection setup information element indicating one or more connection parameters of the NAN. The method further includes determining at least one service identifier of the NAN. The method further includes generating a public action discovery frame comprising the at least one connection setup information element and the at least one service identifier. The method further includes transmitting, at a wireless device, the public action discovery frame.

In one aspect, a method of communicating via a wireless medium by a wireless communications apparatus within a network is provided. The method includes detecting an operating characteristic associated with a load of the network. The method further includes determining an process for adjusting a size of a contention window in response to a successful transmission of a frame based on the detected operating characteristic, the contention window being provided for determining a deferral period for deferring access to the wireless medium. The method further transmitting information indicating the process to one or more wireless devices operating within the network.

A station, method, and apparatus for network detection in a wireless communication system are provided. One implementation may include a station for identifying the presence of at least one access point to associate with. The station comprises a processor configured to generate a probe message, the probe message including a scrambling seed. The processor is further configured to transmit the probe message. The processor is further configured to receive a first probe response message from each access point, the first probe response message being encoded with the scrambling seed. The processor is further configured to receive the second probe response message from each of the access points, the second probe response message from each of the access points including at least an address of the access point. The processor is further configured to identify an access point to associate with based on the second probe response messages. The processor is further configured to generate an association request to transmit to the identified access point. The processor is further configured to transmit the association request to the identified access point.
