Abstract:
Door control means in the form of a door closer employing a single cylinder and a spring mechanism in side-by-side relation, with said cylinder, spring, door hold-open device, and bearing means for the door spindle being supported on the cover plate, and with the spindle for the door being so disposed as to permit its axis to be in alignment with the axis of any offset hanging means for the door, such as butt or pivot hinges, the door control means being easily removable for repair or replacement without having to remove the door from its hanging means.
Abstract:
A protective assembly for coil springs to protect life and property should the springs fail while stressed. The protective shroud is installable about the spring while under stress without need for unloading the spring or using any except simple tools.

1,118,530. Spring door-closing appliances with covered ends. WILLIAM NEWMAN & SONS Ltd. 15 June, 1967 [20 Dec., 1966], No. 56851/66. Heading E2M. The invention relates to spring door-closing appliances comprising an elongated hollow body 1 containing a reciprocating check piston and a spring 2. the piston being operatively coupled to a vertical operating spindle 3 which is connected to the fixed door frame via two jointed together control arms (one shown by 4), the hollow body having one end closed by a removable plug 7, and flanges or lugs 5, 5 being provided at opposite ends of the body to enable the latter to be secured to the door by means of screws; and is characterized in that removable cover members 11/12 and 11/12 (e.g. of polypropylene) are applied to the ends of the hollow body to conceal the screw holes 6 and also to cover the end faces of the body, said cover members having projections which are resiliently sprung into recesses in the said body, whereby a neat and clean-cut appearance is obtained.
Abstract:
A sliding door driving device is fixed to a body panel of a vehicle and operates a sliding door of the vehicle in an opening direction and a closing direction. The sliding door driving device includes an elongated guide frame, a first driven pulley and a second driven pulley that are rotatably supported at both ends in a longitudinal direction of the guide frame, a belt that is wound around the first driven pulley and the second driven pulley, and a cover that covers the belt. The cover has an upper wall that covers the belt from above, an outer wall that extends downward from an outer end of the upper wall in a width direction of the vehicle, and an inner wall that extends downward from an inner end of the upper wall in the width direction.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a hinge for a door or a window, comprising: —a frame hinge part (1), which can be mounted on a frame and which has a mounting portion (2) and a cylindrical receiving bush (3); —a leaf hinge part (4), which can be mounted on the leaf and which has a mounting portion (5) and a hinge strap (6); and—a shaft element (7), which articulatedly connects the two hinge parts (1, 4) arranged one over the other in the vertical direction and which has a shaft pin portion (8) insertable into the receiving bush (3) and a portion located at the opposite end with a socket (10) for the hinge strap (6); wherein the hinge strap (6) can be moved within the socket (10) in the shaft element (7) perpendicularly to the direction of the longitudinal axis by means of an adjustment device (11) In the socket (10), each of at least one clamping piece (12), preferably two clamping pieces (12), is connected to the shaft element (7) by means of an associated connecting element (13). Each clamping piece (12) has an undercut extending perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the shaft element (7), and each undercut engages with an associated groove (14) in the hinge strap (6), the groove being undercut inversely correspondingly. Each clamping piece (12) can be moved between a clamping position and a release position by means of the connecting element (13).
