Abstract: A system including an ambulatory medical treatment device is provided. The ambulatory medical treatment device includes a memory, a treatment component configured to treat a patient, at least one processor coupled to the memory and the treatment component, a user interface component, and a system interface component. The user interface component is configured to receive an update session request and to generate the update session identifier responsive to receiving the request. The system interface component is configured to receive an encoded request including an identifier of an update session and device update information, to decode the encoded request to generate a decoded request including the device update information and the identifier of the update session, to validate the decoded request by determining that the update session identifier matches the identifier of the update session, and to apply the device update information to the ambulatory medical treatment device.

Abstract: A method of controlling discomfort of a patient during external pacing by an external medical device includes detecting a cardiac condition of the patient; receiving, via a user interface, discomfort information descriptive of the discomfort experienced by the patient; determining from the discomfort information whether the patient is conscious or unconscious; responsive to determining from the discomfort information that the patient is unconscious, executing, via at least one therapy electrode disposed on the patient, at least one pacing routine, the at least one pacing routine being associated with the cardiac condition; and responsive to determining from the discomfort information that the patient is conscious, adjusting at least one characteristic of the at least one pacing routine.

Abstract: A medical device includes at least one electrode to sense an electrocardiogram (ECG) signal of a patient, and a controller coupled to the at least one electrode. The controller is configured to generate a first ECG template based on a first ECG signal of the patient received during a first baselining operation. The controller is configured to determine that the patient has been administered a therapeutic shock, and responsive to the determination that the patient has been administered the therapeutic shock, the controller is configured to initiate a second baselining operation and generate a second ECG template based on a second ECG signal of the patient received during the second baselining operation. The controller is configured to determine whether the patient is experiencing a cardiac event based on a comparison of the second ECG template to a real time ECG signal received during real time monitoring of the patient.
