Abstract: In one aspect, there is a rib assembly for an aircraft wing including a rib web having a top and a bottom, the rib web includes a first laminate, a second laminate, and a honeycomb panel having an array of large cells disposed between the first laminate and the second laminate, each cell having a width of at least 1 cm; and a plurality of skin flanges for fixedly attaching the rib web to a skin of the wing, each skin flange has a base member having a first portion and a second portion and a vertical member extending from the base member. The plurality of skin flanges can be attached to the top and the bottom of the rib web such that the second portion of the base member and the vertical member are attached to the rib web.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a rotor hub comprises a yoke for attaching a plurality of rotor blades, a constant velocity joint to drive torque from a mast to the yoke and to enable the yoke to pivot, and a rotor control system configured to adjust an orientation of the plurality of rotor blades. Moreover, the rotor control system comprises: a swashplate, an adapter ring, a plurality of actuators controlled based on a flight control input, a plurality of lower pitch links configured to transfer motion between the swashplate and the adapter ring, a plurality of phase adjustment levers configured to adjust a control phase associated with motion transferred between the swashplate and the adapter ring, and a plurality of upper pitch links configured to adjust a pitch of the plurality of rotor blades, wherein there are more upper pitch links than lower pitch links.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a local control system for a rotor assembly of an apparatus includes a first actuator disposed in the rotor assembly and configured to control motion of a first controllable element in the rotor assembly. The rotor assembly is mounted to the apparatus and is rotated responsive to torque and rotational energy provided thereto. The local control system also includes a first sensor disposed in the rotor assembly and configured to provide position feedback in relation to the first controllable element. The local control system also includes a first local control computer disposed in the rotor assembly and communicably coupled to a first central control computer disposed in the apparatus external to the rotor assembly, where the first local control computer is configured to transmit a control signal to the first actuator and receive a feedback signal from the first sensor.

The propulsion assembly includes a landing assistance turbine coupled to the drive shaft and operable to selectively provide rotational energy to the drive shaft during an underpowered descent to rotate the blade assembly and provide upward thrust, thereby reducing a descent rate of the rotorcraft prior to landing.

Abstract: A conduit bender having a unitary frame is mounted to a wheeled base which provides for transportation of the bender. A braking assembly provides for simplified locking of the wheels to secure the bender in a location. The bender is mounted to the base through a pivoting assembly which allows for bending of conduit in either a horizontal or vertical plane. A circuit is provided for controlling the bending operation. An auto-sensing portion of the circuit receives information regarding the characteristics of the conduit to be bent upon placement of the conduit in the bender. A feedback portion of the circuit is used to provide a precise bending operation.

Abstract: An airframe assembly for an aircraft includes a first airframe member having first and second skins with a large cell core and a solid insert joined therebetween. The solid insert has a side surface at least a portion of which is adjacent to the large cell core. The first airframe member has a first set of openings extending through the first skin, the solid insert and the second skin. The airframe assembly also includes a second airframe member having a second set of openings operable to be aligned with the first set of openings of the first airframe member. Each of a plurality of fasteners extends through one of the openings of the first set of openings and one of the openings of the second set of openings securably coupling the first airframe member to the second airframe member.
