Abstract: A reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) may include multiple sub-RIS, and the base station may configure the RIS and the multiple sub-RIS with RIS sync raster including multiple center frequencies. The RIS may be configured to simultaneously apply different water-markings and reflect the incident beam into different beams in different directions. The base station may perform a beam-sweeping by transmitting synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) on multiple SSB beams, and the RIS may receive one SSB beam of the multiple SSB beams and reflect the SSB beams on the RIS sync raster. A UE may be configured to monitor the base sync raster and the RIS sync raster for a suitable SSB beam, and transmit a feedback report to the base station indicating the suitable beam. The base station may configure the RIS based on the feedback report received from the base station for beam management.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit, from a UE to a base station, one or more reference signals over a channel. The UE may receive, from the base station based at least in part on transmitting the one or more reference signals, control signaling indicating a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) and a rank indicator (RI) based at least in part on the UE having at least eight transmit antennas and based at least in part on a phase difference between different subsets of transmit antennas of the at least eight transmit antennas. The UE may transmit, to the base station, an uplink transmission configured according to the PMI and the RI.

A first wireless device may transmit, to a second wireless device, a message indicating a capability of the first wireless device to support full-duplex line-of-sight (LOS) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications. The first wireless device may receive, from the second wireless device, control signaling indicating an uplink channel resource allocated for one or more uplink communications, a downlink channel resource allocated for one or more downlink communications, a first set of LOS MIMO transmission modes for the one or more uplink communications, and a second set of LOS MIMO transmission modes for the one or more downlink communications. The uplink channel resource may at least partially overlap with the downlink channel resource in time, frequency, or both. The first wireless device may communicate the one or more uplink communications and the one or more downlink communications based on the control signaling.

According to certain aspects, a first device may participate in a first training procedure to obtain a set of channel estimates corresponding to different paths between a second device and the first device involving reflections from different reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) components, participate in a second training procedure, using the set of channel estimates, to obtain a combining vector of coefficients to configure the RIS components based on at least one objective, and communicate with the second device with the RIS components configured according to the combining vector.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitted may use a closed loop precoder for line-of-sight (LOS) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications that uses information such as distance feedback or LOS MIMO channel state feedback. A closed loop precoder may be associated with less overhead than a precoder based on full channel knowledge, such as an SVD precoder. A receiver may estimate a channel based on channel state information reference signals transmitted by the transmitter and calculate a spectral efficiency for one or more precoders of a set of precoders associated with the channel for a LOS MIMO mode. The receiver may send feedback to the transmitter that indicates a selected precoder of the set of LOS MIMO precoders based on the calculated spectral efficiencies. The transmitter may precode messages using the reported closed loop precoder.
