    Abstract: An elastomeric bearing assembly has a centrifugal force bearing axially captured relative to a sliding interface. The sliding interface has one or more low friction regions and one or more high friction regions. One or more piezo actuators are configured to force one or more corresponding high friction regions against the centrifugal force bearing when actuated. The sliding interface may have a circular shape, wherein the one or more low friction regions and the one or more high friction regions are alternating concentric segments of the sliding interface. The one or more high friction regions are recessed on the sliding interface relative to the one or more low friction regions.

Each respective shaped fuel cell may define (a) respective through-void(s) defined through the respective shaped fuel cell, and/or (an) respective edge cavit(y)(ies) defined along an edge of the shaped fuel cell, wherein the respective through-void(s) and/or the respective edge cavit(y)(ies) correspond to the respective aircraft structure(s) that may translate, during the drop impact of the aircraft, into the area(s) of the aircraft designated to house the respective fuel cell(s) to receive and accommodate the respective structure(s) during the drop impact.

    Abstract: A vibration attenuator for a rotor of an aircraft has a housing adapted for rotation with the rotor about an axis. A first ring is rotatably carried within the housing on a first bearing, a first weight being coupled to the first ring for rotation therewith relative to the housing about the axis. A second ring is rotatably carried by the first ring on a second bearing, a second weight being coupled to the second ring for rotation therewith relative to the housing and to the first ring. A first motor is configured for rotating the first ring relative to the housing, and a second motor is configured for rotating the second ring relative to the housing and to the first ring. The first and second motors are operated to rotate the weights within the housing and position the weights relative to each other for attenuating vibrations.

    Abstract: A propped cantilever carrier is described that can be used in planetary gear systems. The carrier can comprise cantilevered arms extending outward from a central hub. At the end of each cantilever a post can extend downward that is configured to receive bearings and gears. A plate can comprise a hole for each post in the carrier. When the plate is coupled to the carrier it can hold the bearings and gears in place and provide added strength to the carrier. The strength benefits are large compared to the light weight of the carrier (with plate) apparatus.

    Abstract: One embodiment is an electric drive system for an aircraft including a motor, a gear box associated with the motor, and a cooling fan for drawing air into the unit across an electronic component to cool the electronic component and for expelling air into an oil cooler for cooling oil contained therein. The electric drive system further includes an oil distribution system for distributing oil cooled by the oil cooler to at least one motor and at least one gearbox, the distributed oil being used to cool the motor and the gearbox, a reservoir for collecting the distributed oil after it has been used to cool the motor and the gearbox, and at least one structural element for retaining the motor, gearbox, the cooling fan, the oil distribution system, and the reservoir together as a unit.
