A floor mounted inside chain loop carousel conveyor with chain pivots at the inside corners of successive rectangular platforms and with use of spanning "butterfly" bifold guards comprising a pair of identical triangular sides with upper edges pivotally connected to each other and lower edges pivotally connected respectively to adjacent sides at successive platforms. All three pivotal connection seams are equipped with piano-type hinges. The "butterfly" bifold guards, when extended in passing around curved sections of the conveyor provide a bridge higher than, rather than flush with the platform so as to provide a structurally rigid personnel guard.

Apparatus wherein an endless moving conveyor belt is trained around two spaced apart shafts and wherein at least one of the shafts is mounted in a bearing that is resiliently urged in a direction away from the other shaft to provide the proper tension in the endless moving conveyor belt, and shock absorbing apparatus is provided for absorbing excessive forces placed on the bearing with or without the resilient urging of the bearing.

A continuous furnace for the heat-treatment of workpieces comprising an endless chain-like conveyer belt (18) consisting of a ceramic material and having a plurality of links (34, 34', 34", 34'"; 36, 36',36', 36""; 38, 38', 38") which are arranged one beside the other and one behind the other and which are interconnected by rods extending transversely to the feeding direction (19). The arrangement provides that a plurality of separate rods (40, 44, 48) are provided one behind the other, viewed over the full width of the conveyor belt (18), and that gaps (42, 46, 50 to 55) remaining between the separate rods are offset laterally, viewed in the feeding direction (19).

An overlay apparatus for use in a conveyor belt which extends in a first direction and which includes a plurality of transverse rods extending between opposed edges of the belt. The overlay apparatus includes an overlay body bent at regularly spaced intervals to form a sinuous configuration with generally straight interior portions extending from respective curved end portions. The overlay body is bent so that the curved end portions thereof are aligned along a pair of spaced generally parallel lines.
Abstract:
An air supporting system is provided for a handrail of a passenger conveyor and includes a plenum. An air supply provides air flow to the plenum. A guide is mounted on one side thereof to the plenum. The guide includes at least one air pocket. A handrail is slidably engaged with the guide. An orifice through the guide allows air to pass from the enclosed space to the air pocket. The air in the pocket generates pressure and lift to the handrail as it is driven to decrease friction between the handrail and the guide and to support the handrail above the guide.

An article conveying method in which an article are held by a plurality of carriage provided on an endless recirculating distributing conveyer and discharged at a discharge station positioned in the passageway of the conveyer, each carriage including a discharge unit for discharging an article at the discharge station and a holding unit for holding another article until the discharge unit discharges the article, comprising the steps of: shifting the another article held by the holding unit to the discharge unit during the time when the carriage concerned is carried to the next discharge station after the discharge unit discharges the article at the first discharge station to discharge the another article at the next discharge station.

A multi-drop container discharge system receives frangible containers from carriers of an articulating hydrostatic cooker and discharges the containers into carriers of an intermittently driven indexing conveyor. Free fall of the frangible containers is minimized by first delaying free-fall from the hydrostatic cooker carriers and thereafter preventing free-fall to the bottom of the truncated V-shaped carriers of an indexing conveyor.

The present invention relates generally to automated distribution systems for storing and retrieving goods. More particularly, the invention relates to a rotatable storage carousel and supporting mechanisms for inserting and extracting containers from the carousel while it remains in continuous motion. The delivery system is designed to deliver goods at rates which exceed the demand of today's production and warehousing facilities.

An endless ammunition conveyor includes a set of laterally moveable carriers and a set of laterally fixed carriers arranged in alternating relation with the moveable carriers. Incident with conveyor movement, the moveable carriers are cammed between laterally offset positions relative to the fixed carriers for respective round exchanges with a pair of ammunition storage bays and interleaved, longitudinally aligned positions with the fixed carriers for round exchanges with a gun-feeding transfer unit. Concurrently, the pitch between adjacent fixed and moveable carriers is changed between a maximum pitch at the gun end of the conveyor and a minimum pitch at the bay end of the conveyor.
