摘要: A guide wire has a wire body which includes a first wire, and a second wire disposed on the proximal side of the first wire and joined to the first wire. A radiopaque coil is preferably disposed around a distal end portion of the first wire. Preferably, a proximal end portion of the first wire is substantially constant in outside diameter along the longitudinal direction, while a distal end portion of the second wire may be composed of a tapered portion of which the outside diameter is gradually increased in the proximal direction from the distal end thereof. Both the wires may be joined their end faces. The outer periphery of the joined portion is preferably provided thereon with a coating layer.

摘要: A vascular catheter includes a catheter body which is made up of an inner tube formed of a metal or a alloy and an outer tube formed of a synthetic resin covering the outside surface of the inner tube. The inner tube has one or more spiral slits in the distal end portion. A vascular dilatation instrument includes an inner tube, an outer tube disposed coaxially around the inner tube, an inflatable member having one end attached to the inner tube and another end attached to the outer tube. At least one of the inner tube and the outer tube includes a main body section based on a tube formed of a metal or alloy and a distal section made of a synthetic resin. The tube made of the metal or the alloy has one or more spiral slits in the distal end portion. The metal is selected from the grope consisting of steel, tungsten and copper. The alloy is selected from the grope of steel alloy, tungsten alloy and copper alloy.

摘要: A guide wire includes a first wire disposed on the distal side of the guide wire and a second wire disposed on the proximal side. The second wire has an elastic modulus larger than the first wire. The first wire is joined to the second wire at a welded portion by welding. A coil is disposed on the distal side of the first wire. A cover layer is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the wire member in such a manner as to cover at least the welded portion. The cover layer is made from a material capable of reducing the friction of the cover layer, for example, a fluorocarbon resin or a hydrophilic material, to thereby improve the sliding performance of the guide wire. Such a guide wire is excellent in operationality and kink resistance.

摘要: A guide wire includes a first wire disposed on the distal side of the guide wire and a second wire disposed on the proximal side from the first wire. The first wire and the second wire are joined to each other by welding. A welded portion formed by welding has a projection projecting in the outer peripheral direction. The height of the projection may be in a range of 0.001 to 0.3 mm. The first wire may be made from a superelastic alloy, and the second wire be made from a stainless steel. The first wire and the second wire are welded to each other by a butt resistance welding process. Such a guide wire has a high joining strength between the first wire and the second wire, to thereby improve the operationality.

摘要: A method of making a guide wire involves butting a connection end face at a proximal end of a first wire against a connection end face at a distal end of a second wire while applying voltage and a pressing force to weld together the first and second wires at a welded portion. The welded portion forms a projection that projects outwardly in an outer peripheral direction relative to portions of the first and second wire adjacent the projection. The outer dimension of the projection at the welded portion is adjusted so that upon completing adjusting the outer dimension of the projection the projection still projects outwardly in the outer peripheral direction relative to the portions of the first and second wire adjacent the projection.
