Abstract: The present invention relates to a face detection system for a vehicle. At least one first lighting unit is configured to radiate infrared light onto a left side of a driver's face. At least one second lighting unit is configured to radiate infrared light onto a right side of the driver's face. An image capturing unit separately captures the driver's face onto which the infrared light is radiated from the first and second lighting units. A control unit acquires left and right images of the face from the image capturing unit, and obtains a difference image between the acquired left and right images, thus determining whether the driver is inattentive in looking ahead. The system stably performs the face detection function with no or less effect by external optical environments as well as reduced computational load.

Abstract: A location recognition system and method using stereophonic sound, the system having a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter uses the stereophonic sound and transmits location tracking information of an object. The transmitter includes a sound detector which detects a sound of the object and converts the detected sound to an electrical signal; a data converter which converts the electrical signal converted by the sound detector, to acoustic data; and a first communication interface which transmits the acoustic data converted by the data converter and the location tracking information to the receiver. A user can immediately recognize the location of the transmitter which transmits the location tracking information and is the target of the location tracking. Therefore, the mutual communications between the transmitter and the receiver which receives the location tracking information can be smoothly carried out.

Abstract: A method and system for authenticating a pay-per-use service using an extensible authentication protocol (EAP). The method includes requesting a client to provide an EAP ID to be used in the service when a service request signal is received from a client; transmitting an EAP payment method (EAP_CC) request signal for requesting management information of the client when the EAP ID is received; after receiving an EAP_CC response signal that includes the management information of the client, retransmitting the EAP_CC response signal to an authentication/authorization/accounting (AAA) backend server that possesses the management information of the client; and after receiving an EAP_CC approval signal for approving the service request of the client from the AAA backend server, retransmitting the EAP_CC approval signal to the client. According to the method, a user can perform an authentication of the pay-per-use service even if the user is a non-subscriber of a specified service.

Abstract: A failure protection between interconnected adjacent Resilient Packet Rings (RPRs) in a multiple RPR network is provided. Two paths, a regular message path and a protection path, are provided between two adjacent RPRs. The regular path is used for routing inter-ring messages when no failure has occurred on the path. Messages are rerouted through the protection path when a failure occurs on the regular path. Each of these paths has two RPR interface nodes (one for each RPR) that are connected to an interconnection device (a layer 2 bridge or a layer-3 router) through interconnection links. Procedures for detecting failures and generating notifications for message rerouting and fault reports are executed at the interconnection devices. The procedures use periodic keep alive messages for diagnosing network segment and interconnection device failures. The fault detection and message rerouting are accomplished in less than 50 ms.
