    摘要: A vertically aligned liquid crystal display (VA-LCD) according to one embodiment has liquid crystal cells in which liquid crystals with a negative dielectric anisotropy are filled and which is provided between a first polarizer and a second polarizer, whose absorption axes are perpendicular to each other. The VA-LCD includes a sheet of +A plate and a sheet of −C plate, disposed between the first polarizer and the liquid crystal cells, and a sheet of +A plate disposed between the second polarizer and the liquid crystal cells, where an optical axis of the +A plate near the first polarizer is perpendicular to the absorption axis of the first polarizer, and an optical axis of the +A plate near the second polarizer is parallel with the absorption axis of the second polarizer, and where a thickness retardation value of the −C plate is in the range of −500 nm to −30 nm for a wavelength of 550 nm.

    摘要: This invention provides a vertically aligned liquid crystal display, including a first polarizing plate and a second polarizing plate having absorption axes perpendicular to each other and a vertically aligned panel provided therebetween and including vertically aligned liquid crystals having negative dielectric anisotropy, in which a +A-film and a +C-film are provided between the first polarizing plate and the vertically aligned panel, the +C-film is positioned between the first polarizing plate and the +A-film, and the optic axis of the +A-film is parallel to or perpendicular to the absorption axis of the first polarizing plate. According to this invention, the contrast of the vertically aligned liquid crystal display can be improved at surface-facing angle and tilt angle thereof and the color shift depending on the viewing angle in a dark state can be minimized, thus greatly increasing the viewing angle range of the vertically aligned liquid crystal display.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a vertically aligned LCD (VA-LCD) comprising a positive compensation film including one or more of a first retardation film (+A-plate) satisfying the condition of nx>ny=nz and a second retardation film (−C-plate) satisfying the condition of nx=ny>nz, wherein the first retardation film is arranged such that its optical axis is perpendicular to an optical absorption axis of a neighboring polarizing plate, and a total thickness retardation (R−C+RVA) including the thickness retardation of the second retardation film and the thickness retardation of a VA-panel has a positive value in then range of 50-150 nm. The VA-LCD in accordance with the present invention improves contrast characteristics on a front surface and at a tilt angle and minimizes coloring in a black state according to the tilt angle.
