Abstract:
The invention relates to a gear with two turntables arranged into one another, which are interconnected via a swashplate, which gear preferably is used for adjusting the angle of rotation of the camshaft relative to the angle of rotation of the crankshaft of an IC engine. By adjusting these angles of rotation the control times of the charge-cycle valves in the valve clearance of the IC engine are affected. Here it is proposed to connect the swashplate with the first turntable formed as a camshaft gear via at least one pin, the swashplate being connected with the camshaft via the second turntable by means of a gear ring.
Abstract:
An apparatus for varying the phase of the camshaft in the combustion engine of a motor vehicle has an adjuster which is connected to the camshaft and is operable to adjust the phase of the camshaft prior and subsequent to starting of the engine. To this end, the adjuster is connected with a hydraulic drive system which can operate the adjuster while the engine is idle. Once the engine is started, the drive system receives pressurized fluid from the lubricating circuit of the engine. Prior to starting of the engine, the drive system receives pressurized fluid from a source other than the lubricating circuit or from a source which is provided in addition to the lubricating circuit. The other source is preferably the hydraulic circuit of the power steering system (such as a speed-sensitive power steering system) of the motor vehicle.
Abstract:
The phase of a camshaft in an internal combustion engine can be changed by the piston rod of a double-acting hydraulic cylinder and piston unit which is controlled by a valve having a spool movable axially by an electromagnet which is adapted to be influenced by a plurality of signals including those from the engine electronics.
Abstract:
The prime mover of a power train for use in a motor vehicle normally drives a flywheel by way of a first engageable/disengageable clutch, and the flywheel drives the rotary input member of an automated change-speed transmission assembly by way of a second engageable/disengageable clutch. At least one first auxiliary aggregate (such as the pump of a power steering unit) can receive torque directly from the prime mover, and at least one second auxiliary aggregate (such as the compressor of an air conditioning system) can receive torque from the input member of the transmission assembly or from the prime mover. The rotary output member of the transmission assembly can receive torque from a continuously variable transmission which receives torque from the input member by way of a planetary, or from a planetary which receives torque from a continuously variable transmission. The internal gear of the planetary can be arrested by a stationary brake to thus interrupt the transmission of torque to the output member.
