Abstract: A hydraulic capsule is provided for use in connection with an engine decompression brake or other variable valvetrain lifts. The hydraulic capsule comprises a main body having a latch pin, a first housing defined by a first outer diameter, an upper chamber defined by the first housing, and a first biasing member, and the latch pin is disposed inside the upper chamber and held by the first biasing member; a second body comprising a plunger, a second housing defined by a second outer diameter, a lower chamber defined by the second housing, and means for restricting the plunger at the bottom of the lower chamber, and the plunger is slidably moveable up and down inside the second housing; a biasing means, wherein the biasing means keeps the main body and the second body in contact; and a check assembly. The first outer diameter and the second diameter can be chosen according to manufacturing specifications and can be the same or different.

Abstract: A variable valve device can change valve operations of a cylinder head in which a cam chain is disposed at a center in a predetermined direction where cylinders are arranged and spark plugs are arranged by recessing outer walls on both sides in the direction in a concave shape. The device includes, for each cylinder, a rocker shaft extending along the direction, rocker arms supported by the rocker shaft, a connecting pin disposed in a pin hole of one of the rocker arms, a return pin disposed in a pin hole of the other of the rocker arms, a pressing member that causes the connecting pin to push the return pin, and a repulsive member that causes the return pin to push back the connecting pin, and the pins and the members are separated from the plug in a direction orthogonal to the direction in a plan view.

Abstract: There is provided an installation structure for an oil control valve configured to control a hydraulic pressure to a variable valve device, in an engine in which a cylinder head cover is provided on a cylinder head, and the variable valve device that is configured to change an opening and closing timing of a valve by a hydraulic pressure is mounted. The installation structure includes: a first slope that slopes upward and rearward from a front end on an upper surface of the cylinder head cover; and a second slope that slopes downward and rearward from a rear end of the first slope on the upper surface of the cylinder head cover. A radiator is installed in front of the cylinder head cover, and the oil control valve is installed on the second slope.

Abstract: A split-cycle internal combustion engine includes a variable displacement compressor having two or more cylinders, an adjustment mechanism for varying the displacement volume of the compressor and possibly the phase between the compressor and the motor, and a rotary motor having two or more expansion chambers. A passage valve system located between the compressor and the motor transfers working fluid and combustion exhaust products, and, in addition, mechanically and thermally isolates the compressor from the high pressures and temperatures present in the motor.

Abstract: A method of controlling intake and exhaust cam phase in an internal combustion engine includes sensing an engine speed and an engine load of the internal combustion engine, sensing or estimating a wall temperature of a cylinder of the internal combustion engine, utilizing the engine speed and the engine load in one or more lookup tables based on the cylinder wall temperature to determine intake phaser constraint values and exhaust phaser constraint values for cold operation of the internal combustion engine, and transitioning the intake phaser constraint values and the exhaust phaser constraint values for cold operation to intake phaser constraint values and exhaust phaser constraint values based on one or more lookup tables for normal hot operation of the internal combustion engine.

Abstract: A method for controlling intake and exhaust valves of an engine includes: Controlling opening and closing timings of the intake and exhaust valves by an intake continuous variable valve timing (CVVT) device and an exhaust CVVT devices; determining, by a controller, target intake and exhaust opening durations of the intake and exhaust valves, and target opening and closing timings of the valves based on an engine load and an engine speed; modifying current intake and exhaust opening durations based on the target opening durations via an intake continuous variable valve duration (CVVD) device and an exhaust CVVD device; adjusting opening or closing timings of the valves to the target opening or closing timings of the valves while maintaining the modified opening durations of the valves.
