Abstract:
Imaging apparatus including:an image-forming surface having formed thereon a latent electrostatic image, the latent electrostatic image including image regions at a first voltage and background regions at a second voltage;a developer surface charged to a third voltage intermediate the first and second voltages and having a second surface urged against and adapted for operative engagement with the image-forming surface at a development region;an applicator assembly operative to apply a layer of concentrated liquid toner comprising charged toner particles and carrier liquid onto the developer surface;a developer operative to develop the latent image by transferring less than the total thickness of the layer of concentrated liquid toner from the developer surface to the image regions of the image-forming surface thereby to form a developed image on the image-forming surface; andapparatus for transferring the developed image from the image-forming surface to a final substrate.
Abstract:
Imaging apparatus including a first member having a first surface having formed thereon a latent electrostatic image, the latent electrostatic image including image regions at a first voltage and background regions at a second voltage, a second member charged to a third voltage intermediate the first and second voltages and having a second surface adapted for resilient engagement with the first surface and a third member adapted for resilient contact with the second surface in a transfer region. The imaging apparatus also includes apparatus for supplying liquid toner to the transfer region thereby forming on the second surface a thin layer of liquid toner containing a relatively high concentration of charged toner particles and apparatus for developing the latent image by the selective transfer of portions of the layer of liquid toner from the second surface to the first surface.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for defining packaging components are provided. An exemplary embodiment provides an expert system (508) for defining packaging components. The expert system includes a processor (512) and a memory (514). The memory (514) includes code (510) configured to direct the processor (512) to obtain a product definition, obtain lifecycle parameters, and access a database (518, 522, or 524) to identify packaging components that match the lifecycle parameters and product definition.
Abstract:
A soft proof system includes a display module and a manager. The display module displays a visual representation of a print product, and a color array expressing a tolerance range of a color component of the visual representation and a target color within the range. Via the manager, a visualization function produces the visual representation and the color array according to a soft proof array. A tolerance selection function, associated with the display module, enables selection of the tolerance range for at least a portion of the print product, wherein the selection is expressed on the display in the visual representation and in the color array.
Abstract:
A designer-adaptive visual code (32, 32′, 32″) includes a user-selected set glyphs (36, 36′, 36″, 36′−), a user-selected set of allowable glyph orientations relative to a user-selected reference angle, and a user-selected spatial arrangement of the glyphs (36, 36′, 36″, 36′″). The user-selected set of glyphs (36, 36′, 36″, 36′″) has a size sufficient to recover geometric characteristics of at least one repeating code portion so as to generate an analyzable image when captured via a camera-equipped mobile device (26). The user-selected spatial arrangement of the glyphs (36, 36′, 36″, 36′″) includes the at least one repeating code portion (34) to be visible on a surface from at least two different areas of the surface.
Abstract:
A printing method comprising: forming a first image utilizing a liquid toner comprising carrier liquid and pigmented polymer particles having a first color; transferring the first image to an intermediate transfer member; forming at least one additional image utilizing a liquid toner comprising at least one carrier liquid and pigmented polymer particles having a second color, different from the first color; transferring the at least one additional image to the intermediate transfer member overlaid on the first image, to form a composite image on the intermediate transfer member; and further transferring the composite image to a further substrate, wherein said polymer particles in said first liquid toner and in at least one of said additional liquid toners have different compositions, aside from colorants, the differences in composition including at least one of different polymers or blends of polymers, different amounts or types of placticizers, different amounts of solvated liquid and different compositions of solvated liquid.
Abstract:
A printing system and method include analyzing a plurality of properties of a document, and for each of a plurality of ink sets, calculating a metric for each of the properties.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to affinity rewards program methods and systems. In one aspect, a sponsor participates in an affinity rewards program by transmitting to a rewards program administrator an offer record including a sponsor identifier, an offer reward, and a reward interaction condition. The sponsor receives from a user a unique user identifier associated with an affinity passport which includes the user identifier in readable form and which is associated with the rewards program. The sponsor transmits to the rewards program administrator an event record including the user identifier, the sponsor identifier, and event information defining a user-sponsor interaction. The sponsor receives from the rewards program administrator an indication whether the event information meets the interaction condition and qualifies the user for the sponsor's reward.
Abstract:
In one example, the article includes instructions for illuminating a color patch with a first illumination intensity, capturing a first color measurement of the color patch, adjusting the first illumination intensity to a second illumination intensity based on the first color measurement, illuminating the color patch with the second illumination intensity, and capturing a second color measurement. In one example, the system discloses a light source illuminates a color patch with a first illumination intensity, a color measurement module captures a first color measurement of the color patch, wherein the color measurement module causes the light source to adjust the first illumination intensity to a second illumination intensity based on the first color measurement, and wherein the color measurement module captures a second color measurement of the color patch. In one example, the method discloses blocks for effecting the article and system.
