A method for performing content-based temporal segmentation of video sequences, the method comprises the steps of transmitting the video sequence to a processor; identifying within the video sequence a plurality of type-specific individual temporal segments using a plurality of type-specific detectors; analyzing and refining the plurality of type-specific individual temporal segments identified in the identifying the plurality of type-specific individual temporal segments step; and outputting a list of locations within the video sequence of the identified type-specific individual temporal segments.

A computer readable medium embodies a program of machine-readable instructions executable by a processing apparatus to perform operations including determining information corresponding to a number of differences in distances between ending points of journeys taken by a vehicle and starting points of consecutive journeys taken by the vehicle, and transmitting one or more representations of the information. Another computer readable medium tangibly includes instructions for, for each of a number of vehicles, receiving one or more scores corresponding to a vehicle, and determining a ranked list containing at least a portion of the scores, and outputting the ranked list. Another computer readable medium includes instructions for, for each of a number of vehicles, receiving information corresponding to a vehicle, using one or more metrics, calculating one or more values from the received information, and communicating one or more representations of the one or more value to one or more entities.
Abstract:
Utility meter readings generated at low sampling rates are disaggregated to identify consumer usage activities. Time intervals between readings can include a plurality of consumer usage activities. By employing a model which recognizes associations among consumer usage activities, effective disaggregation is possible using only aggregated consumption data and interval start times. Consumers and utility managers can design and assess conservation programs based on the disaggregated consumption usage activities.

A computer program product includes a tangible storage medium readable by a processing circuit and on which instructions are stored for execution by the processing circuit for performing a method. The method includes, upon receiving utility consumption data of a group of elements, defining clusters of elements by like geography and like utility consumption, evaluating a significance of each cluster by comparing an average utility consumption within the cluster with utility consumption of elements neighboring the cluster and determining from a result of the evaluating which clusters exhibit significant differences in utility consumption from the neighboring elements and defining those clusters as regional outliers.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for optimizing resource allocation among data analysis functions in a classification system are provided. Each of the data analysis functions is characterized as a set of operating points in accordance with at least one of resource requirements and analysis quality. An operating point for each of the data analysis functions is selected in accordance with one or more constraints. The analysis functions are applied at selected operating points to optimize resource allocation among the data analysis functions in the classification system.

A method is disclosed that includes, for a set of passages of a vehicle, where each passage is associated with at least one confidence level, applying at least one heuristic to confidence levels corresponding to the set to determine at least one score. The method also includes performing the applying at least one heuristic for a number of sets of passages of a number of vehicles and selecting a number of the sets based on their associated at least one scores. The method additionally includes outputting identifications corresponding to each of the selected sets. Apparatus and computer readable media are also disclosed.

Data representative of a plurality of mortgage applications is obtained. The applications participate in a mortgage origination process, and each of the applications has associated therewith customer-specific attributes and product-specific attributes. The mortgage origination process has a plurality of statuses. Data representative of at least one environmental attribute is also obtained. Each given one of the mortgage applications in a given one of the plurality of statuses at a given time is ranked by likelihood of not closing, based at least on the customer-specific attributes, the product-specific attributes, and the at least one environmental attribute. Those of the mortgage applications likely not to close which are likely not to close due to non-exogenous attributes are identified. For at least some of the mortgage applications likely not to close due to non-exogenous attributes, suggestion of a modification of at least one corresponding one of the product-specific attributes is facilitated, to enhance the likelihood of closing.

An autonomous classification device which enables the creation of autonomous classifiers that are easy to deploy, adapt and optimize in the environment in which they are used. The classifier is autonomous in that it can perform three functions that define autonomic systems: automatically configure itself in an environment, optimize its performance using the environment and mechanisms for performance, and continually adapting to improve performance and heal itself in a changing environment.

A method, system and program product developing an annotation lexicon are described. Under aspects of the present invention, annotation(s) to piece(s) of content are received and analyzed using one or more computational analyses. Based on the analyses, feedback will be generated to improve the annotation lexicon and/or the ontology thereof. Such improvement can lead to, among other things: the re-arrangement of interrelationships of terms in the annotation lexicon; the addition, modification or deletion of terms from the annotation lexicon; the re-arrangement or clustering of terms within the annotation lexicon; etc.
Abstract:
Access is obtained to call data records (or other data) for a plurality of mobile telephony users. The call data records (or other data) include location-time sequences. For each of the mobile telephony users, corresponding ones of the location-time sequences are segmented into trips; a home-work-school classification model is used to determine a home location and a work-school location, based on the trips; and a trip purpose classification model is used to assign each of the trips a purpose label, based at least on comparing at least one of a start location and an end location for each one of the trips to at least one of the home location and the work-school location determined using the home-work-school classification model. The trips are aggregated into purpose based origin-destination categories based at least on the purpose labels, time ranges of the location-time sequences, and the start and end locations.
