Abstract:
A communication entity (such as a User Equipment (UE), an Access Gateway (AGW), a Packet Data Network Gateway (PGW), a Policy Charging Rule Function (PCRF), and so forth) notifies another communication entity that the UE intends to use a single Internet Protocol (IP) address for connections to multiple AGWs. The communication entity also sends information that is related to at least one of the UE's IP flows to another communication entity.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are provided that facilitate detaching one of a plurality of network connections to ensure state information is retained at one or more network nodes. For a device initiated detach, the device can transmit a handover message related to performing a handover of one network connection to another active network connection, as opposed to explicitly detaching the network connection. This can cause at least some state information, such as a gateway identifier, to be retained in one or more network nodes. For a network initiated detach, a gateway can provision state information to a state information server following receiving a routing tunnel termination message to ensure state information deleted as a part of the detach is re-provisioned to the state information server.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for allocating a data flow based on selection criteria including receiving at least one policy including at least one indication for selecting an access from two or more of available accesses; determining a selection criterion based on the data flow; and selecting the access based on the determined selection criterion and the at least one indication. In one example, the selection criterion is one of the following: a bandwidth requirement for the data flow, an application generating the data flow, a protocol used to carry the data flow, a file size, an application name/ID, a role ID, or a throughput of the data flow. In one example, the policy is a management object (MO) received from an Access Network Discovery and Selection Function (ANDSF) module and the selected access is for a wireless local area network (WLAN), a LTE network or for a 3GPP service.
Abstract:
A communication network with controlled routing operations, including a set of nodes, wherein topological information on the network is broadcast to all the nodes in the set. The network is associated with an external network, such as, a standard public network, and certain nodes are configured to perform a gateway function between the network and the associated external network. Each node is configured for building two sets of addresses including one primary address, which is fixed and independent from the prefixes announced by the gateways and one or more secondary addresses which are valid global IP addresses, based on the global prefixes announced by the gateways. Each node in the network is configured for using one of the secondary addresses as the source address of outgoing traffic, and for generating and broadcasting multiple interface messages containing all its secondary addresses in the place of interface addresses.
