Abstract:
A method for providing a broadcast service to a terminal by a network in a Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) Convergence of Broadcasting and Mobile Service (CBMS) system. The method includes generating Program Specific Information/Service Information (PSI/SI) indicative of information related to a broadcast service requested by the terminal; generating mapping information for information on the broadcast service in an Internet Protocol (IP) platform from which the terminal is currently receiving the broadcast service, and for information on a broadcast service corresponding to the broadcast service in IP platforms other than the IP platform; and including the generated mapping information in an IP/Medium Access Control (MAC) Information Notification Table (INT) of the PSI/SI, and delivering the INT to the terminal.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) for roaming users in a Convergence of Broadcasting and Mobile Service (CBMS) system. A network entity generates a normal ESG indicating services available for local users in a network, and a special ESG indicating services available for roaming users in the network, the roaming users entering into the network from a neighboring network of the network, and transmits over at least one of an interactive network and a broadcast network the normal ESG and the special ESG to a terminal in the network. The terminal, or a roaming user, in the network receives the normal ESG and the special ESG, and performs a user roaming procedure or a service roaming procedure based on the special ESG.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for enabling a terminal to continuously receive an on-going service even when the terminal moves out of a serving cell or a home network in a DVB-H CBMS system are provided, in which a network controls a handover, designates a target cell for the terminal if the terminal is to perform the handover on an interactive channel, and when needed, processes the handover over an interactive network.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for supporting smooth and seamless handover of a terminal receiving digital broadcasting in a digital broadcasting system. A handover method by a network node includes the steps of receiving a handover proposal message from a terminal, the handover proposal message containing a time for signal quality evaluation, a service ID, and a cell ID, the terminal receiving a broadcasting service from a serving cell; evaluating signal qualities of candidate cells providing a service corresponding to the service ID; calculating a handover candidate parameter based on a result of evaluation of the signal qualities of the candidate cells, the handover candidate parameter indicating time available for handover with regard to respective candidate cells; and transmitting the handover candidate parameter to the terminal.
Abstract:
A handover method and apparatus in a digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) system that transmits/receives broadcast data through a frame group using different frequencies. A handover method includes receiving a first frame group header at a serving frequency, and receiving a burst of the desired service at the serving frequency according to a burst arrival time; calculating a first relative start time of a next frame group header; turning power off until a current time arrives at a next header arrival time; receiving a second frame group header at a searching frequency, and acquiring service information of the searching frequency necessary for handover to the searching frequency; returning to the serving frequency and turning the power off; and comparing signal power/quality of the listened frequencies with each other to select a best frequency, and switching to the selected frequency using the acquired corresponding service information.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for transmitting service discovery information to a client in a multimedia transmission system of hybrid delivery, providing at least two services via a point to multi point (p-t-m) channel and a point to point (p-t-p) channel. Service discovery information is generated, including a first indication indicating whether a service corresponding to the service discovery information is of hybrid delivery, and is transmitted to the client.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for transmitting service discovery information in a multimedia transmission system. Service discovery information, including service access information for reception of a service, is generated. The service discovery information is transmitted after being classified into a plurality of levels.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a DVB-H CBMS system by which a user can continue to view a program being in service even when the transport stream or IP platform changes while the user views the program. In the DVB-H CBMS system, the system transmits service mapping information according to transport streams or IP platforms to the terminal, so that the system can provide a service without interruption to the terminal even when a user of the terminal moves out of a current cell or network into a new cell or network while receiving a service that the user selected.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for generating and reproducing an adaptive stream based on a file format is disclosed. The method includes receiving one or more segments, each of which includes a manifest box, a moov box, and a media data box, from a server and analyzing the manifest box, the moov box, and the media data box; and decoding and reproducing the one or more segments based on a result of analyzing of the manifest box, moov box, and media data box, wherein the manifest box, moov box, and media data box are included in a single file.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for receiving manifest information by a client from a broadcast involved system are provided. The method includes accessing the broadcast involved system, receiving timing information comprising a specific entry point to check the manifest information, and acquiring the manifest information from a broadcasting channel using the timing information.
