Abstract: Technologies for path selection in wireless mesh network of wireless network devices are described. One method includes receiving a first response from a second mesh network device and a second response wirelessly from the second mesh network device, the first response associated with a first request to establish a first wireless path with a third mesh network device and the second response associated with a second request to establish a second wireless path with a fourth mesh network device. The method determines that the first response and the second response include a same sequential number (SN) for the second mesh network device. The method forwards the first response to the third mesh network device and forwards the second response to the fourth mesh network device.

Abstract: Network hardware devices organized in a wireless mesh network (WMN). A first mesh network device performs a three-stage discovery protocol; in a first stage, a discovery scan uses a first radio to find a set of neighbor devices in proximity; in a second stage, a discovery locate probe process is performed on a secondary discovery channel that is from a same frequency band group as a first DFS channel; in a third stage, a CAC is performed via the first DFS channel and, after the CAC, a neighbor peering request is sent and a neighbor peering response is received from a second mesh network device via a second radio. The neighbor peering response confirms establishment of a first communication channel between the second radio of the first mesh network device and a radio of the second mesh network device over the first DFS channel.

Abstract: Technology for event propagation and action coordination in a mesh network is described. In one embodiment, a master mesh node for a first communication channel in a mesh network receives a first event notification message from a first dependent mesh node associated with the master mesh node. The first event notification message pertains to a first event detected by the first dependent mesh node. In response, the master mesh node generates a first action message specifying a first action associated with the first event and sends the first action message to the first dependent mesh node and to a second dependent mesh node associated with the master mesh node. The master mesh node, the first dependent mesh node, and the second dependent mesh node all exchange communications with each other using the first communication channel in the mesh network.

Abstract: A method of route discovery in wireless mesh networks comprises: receiving, by a first mesh network device of a wireless mesh network, from a second mesh network device of the wireless mesh network, a first route request identifying a destination mesh network device of the wireless mesh network and a first path selection metric value; determining a path selection metric increment, wherein the path selection metric increment reflects a radio channel contention by the first mesh network device and the second mesh network device; generating a second path selection metric value by adding the path selection metric increment to the first path selection metric value; and broadcasting a second route request identifying the destination mesh network device and the second path selection metric value.
