Abstract:
A vehicle occupant restraint system comprises a gas supply means which has an outer housing with at least two outlet openings. The restraint system further comprises at least two inflatable elements to which different outlet openings are associated and which are filled in parallel via the associated outlet openings. The outlet openings are designed such that during inflation of the elements gas flow rates through the individual outlet openings to the inflatable elements are different.
Abstract:
A gas bag module, in particular for head protection in case of a side impact, has an elongated mounting housing (10) having two opposing side walls (12, 14) running spaced apart from each other and a cross-piece (16) connecting the side walls (12, 14), and has a gas bag (20) accommodated in folded state in the mounting housing (10). Further provided is at least one spacer spaced apart from the cross-piece (16), which spacer extends between the side walls (12, 14) and connects them with each other such that a moving apart of the side walls (12, 14) is at least largely avoided when the mounting housing (10) is open and the gas bag (20) unfolds.
Abstract:
An inflatable protective cushion to cover side panes of a vehicle in the event of a side impact has a front end and a front anchor point in an area of an A-column and a rear anchor point in an area of a C-column of the vehicle. The protective cushion further has a gas distribution tube substantially extending between the A and C-columns. The gas distribution tube is connected to a gas generator. The gas distribution tube has an end with a piston slidably accommodated therein. A piston rod is connected to said piston and protrudes from the end of the gas distribution tube. One of the anchor points is provided on a free end of the piston rod.
Abstract:
A vehicle steering wheel has an integrated gas bag module comprising an inflator, a folded gas bag and a cover connected to each other by a metallic housing body, and a mounting plate featuring at least one electrically insulated horn contact. The mounting plate is spring supported on said steering wheel body and carries said gas bag module whilst being an integral component of said housing body and thus a component of said gas bag module. To simplify the configuration and the fitting of a vehicle steering wheel having an integrated gas bag module, a plurality of seats for one coil spring each are arranged on said steering wheel body opposite the outer rim portion of said mounting plate, the latter being spring supported by said coil springs on said steering wheel body.
Abstract:
A gas bag for a vehicle occupant restraining system is inflatable from a folded to an inflated state in case of an accident. The gas bag includes a gas bag wall which is defined by several fabric layers being superposed in the inflated state. The gas bag has at least one discharge opening with a cross section. The fabric layers have openings which overlap each other to define the discharge opening and can be displaced relative to each other dependent on the internal gas bag pressure to vary the cross section of the discharge opening.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a cover for a gas bag of an occupant restraining system in vehicles and more especially to the attachment of such a cover on the instrument panel on the front passenger seat side of a motor vehicle. The cover is characterized in that on the side, which faces the instrument panel (12), of the covering plate (10) at least one tape-like lug (14) is formed, which is trained under a holding yoke (16) secured in the interior of the instrument panel and at its end (18) opposite to the covering plate is so widened that this end is unable to slip past the holding yoke.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a vehicle occupant restraint system (10) for a vehicle comprising an inflator (14) and an airbag (12) connected to the inflator (14). The inflator (14) includes a mounting extension (42) which is provided for mounting the inflator (14) on a vehicle part (18) and projects through an orifice in the airbag (12). A sealing assembly (58) arranged at the mounting extension (42) is provided which clamps the airbag (12) against the inflator (14) and seals the orifice in the airbag (12). Furthermore, the invention relates to a sealing element (60) having a closed annular sealing body (68) including at least one lateral extension (64, 66) which extends in the central plane (E) of the sealing body (68).
Abstract:
In a method of assembling a component by means of a fastening clip (100), the fastening clip (100) comprising a latching portion (106) and a head element (104), the head element (104) is transferred from a preliminary mounting position to a final mounting position for assembling the component. An enabling element (112) is provided which is transferred from a first position in which a machine-readable code (114) applied on the fastening clip (100) can not be read, to a second position in which the code (114) can be read, when the head element (104) is transferred to the final mounting position.
Abstract:
A vehicle occupant restraint system has a side gas bag which is arranged folded along a roof frame of a vehicle. The side gas bag is configured such that in an inflated condition a front inflatable section at a front end of the side gas bag projects further into the vehicle interior than an inflatable portion adjoining the front inflatable section in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.
Abstract:
An airbag (10) for a vehicle occupant restraint system includes an airbag wall (14) having a gas outlet opening (26), and a control strap (16) extending through an interior of the airbag along an airbag depth (y) that is defined by a distance between two airbag wall areas (27, 28), the airbag wall areas (27, 28) being situated opposite to each other and the airbag wall areas (27, 28) being joined to one another by the control strap (16). A wall section (20) is turned one of inside and outside relative to the inflated airbag (10), depending on the airbag depth (y), such that, in response to a displacement of the control strap (16), the airbag (10) can be moved from a first outer contour, in which the airbag depth (y) is large and the wall section (20) is turned into the interior of the airbag, to a second outer contour, in which the airbag depth (y) is smaller and the wall section (20) is turned outside. The airbag (10) has a closure (18) for the gas outlet opening (26) that is joined, on the one hand, to the control strap (16) and, on the other hand, to the wall section (20). The closure (18) can be actively moved in opposite directions respectively by the control strap (16) and the wall section (20), in order to open and close the gas outlet opening (26) to one of a greater and lesser extent.
