Abstract:
The invention relates to a vehicle occupant restraint system (10) for a vehicle comprising an inflator (14) and an airbag (12) connected to the inflator (14). The inflator (14) includes a mounting extension (42) which is provided for mounting the inflator (14) on a vehicle part (18) and projects through an orifice in the airbag (12). A sealing assembly (58) arranged at the mounting extension (42) is provided which clamps the airbag (12) against the inflator (14) and seals the orifice in the airbag (12). Furthermore, the invention relates to a sealing element (60) having a closed annular sealing body (68) including at least one lateral extension (64, 66) which extends in the central plane (E) of the sealing body (68).
Abstract:
A gas bag cover of pliant material which is attachable to a vehicle by a fastener, includes at least one molded, protruding fastener web having at least one recess in which the fastener engages, and a reinforcement part encasing the recess at least in part.
Abstract:
An apparatus for attaching a gas bag cover on a part of a vehicle is provided, which comprises an attachment rib on the gas bag cover and an interlocking snap connection adapted to act on the attachment rib. The interlocking snap connection includes a locking element which is movably mounted on the vehicle part and is acted on by a spring element adapted to displace the locking element from an initial position into a locking position. The interlocking snap connection further comprises a detent mechanism which prevents the spring element from displacing the locking element when the latter is in its initial position. The detent mechanism is adapted to release the locking element during mounting the gas bag cover at the vehicle part.
Abstract:
The process for manufacturing an open pore foam body with three dimensional ceramic network, in particular as a filter for the treatment of hot gases or as a catalyst substrate, has as its starting material a block of open pore plastic foam. This is impregnated at least once with a ceramic suspension, freed of excess ceramic suspension and heated to a temperature below the melting point of the plastic, then finally burnt off at a temperature at which the ceramic sinters together. At least one plastic foam layer is impregnated, assembled into a plastic foam block with flow channels between two layers and sintered to form a Z-flow filter.
Abstract:
A gas bag module, in particular a side gas bag module, for a vehicle occupant protection system, has a gas bag, a gas generator, a housing of which has several outflow openings which are disposed such that the gas generator is in principle thrust-neutral. Further provided is a closure element which, in a standard case of release of the gas bag module, prevents gas from flowing out, at least in one direction, and in the case of fire is at least in sections thermally weakened or destroyed, such that the gas generator blows out gas thrust-neutrally.

Abstract:
Gas bag (10) for a vehicle occupant restraint system comprises first and second fabric layers (12, 14) lying one over another and at least one limiting means delimiting the spacing between the fabric layers (12, 14) in the inflated state of the gas bag, which is fastened to the fabric layers (12, 14). The limiting means in the folded state of the gas bag consists of a seam (16) with at least three threads (18, 20, 22), at least one of the threads (22) being constructed as a tear thread.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a vehicle occupant protection system, comprising a gas bag which has at least one inflatable chamber defined by a wall. The protection system further comprises a tensioning strap which fixes the gas bag in position in an inflated state. The tensioning strap is fully looped around the wall of the chamber and fastened to the wall and to the vehicle in such a manner that inflating the chamber causes a displacement of the tensioning strap and a tightening of the tensioning strap.
Abstract:
A gas bag restraint system for an occupant of a vehicle comprises a tube-shaped gas bag which in a free state extends in a straight line when inflated. The system further comprises at least one tensioning fabric or tensioning net having a large surface area and being adapted to be fastened to a vehicle. The gas bag is held on the tensioning fabric or tensioning net in a curved shape so that it, in an inflated state, endeavors to extend in a straight line whereby the tensioning fabric or tensioning net connected to the gas bag is tensioned and forms an additional restraining surface.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for inflating a vehicle occupant restraint system of a vehicle, in particular for inflating a gas bag. The device comprises a gas generator which contains a pyrotechnic propellant material and is provided for developing a first gas. The device further comprises a compressed gas container arranged so as to be separate from the gas generator and containing a second gas which is under pressure. The gas generator and the compressed gas container are activated in a case of restraint and introduce the first and second gases, respectively, into the vehicle occupant restraint system. The invention further relates to a vehicle occupant restraint system, comprising a head/side gas bag and the device for inflating the gas bag.
