Abstract: An audio device with a body configured to be worn on or abutting an outer ear of a user, wherein the body is configured to contact at least one of the outer ear and the portion of the head that abuts the outer ear, at two separate spaced contact locations, and wherein the body is compliant at a body portion that defines one of the contact locations. Abstract: A hearing aid (600) includes an earpiece (602), a casing (604), and coupling member (612). The earpiece (602) is configured to sit at least partially within the user’s ear canal when worn. The casing (604) supports a sound processor (608) and a microphone (606) and is configured to sit behind a users ear and in contact with the user’s pinna when worn. The coupling member (612) couples the casing (604) to the earpiece (602). The coupling member (612) has an effective length that is adjustable to accommodate users with different ear geometries.

In certain implementations, an earpiece includes an electro-acoustic transducer and an acoustic back volume configured to provide a desirable fit along with desirable acoustic performance. In some particular aspects, an earpiece includes: an electro-acoustic transducer; a housing supporting the electro-acoustic transducer such that the housing and the electro-acoustic transducer together define a first acoustic volume and a second acoustic volume, the electro-acoustic transducer being arranged such that a first radiating surface of the transducer radiates acoustic energy into the first acoustic volume coupled to an outlet and such that a second radiating surface of the transducer radiates acoustic energy into the second acoustic volume, where at least a portion of the second acoustic volume is located between the first radiating surface and the outlet.

Abstract: An earphone includes a loudspeaker, a microphone, a housing supporting the loudspeaker and microphone, and ear tip surrounding the housing and configured to acoustically couple both the loudspeaker and the microphone to an ear canal of a user, and to acoustically close the entrance to the user's ear canal. A processor provides output audio signals to the loudspeaker, receives input audio signals from the microphone, extracts a rate of respiration from the input audio signals, adjusts the output audio signals based on the extracted rate of respiration, and provides the adjusted output audio signals to the loudspeaker.
