    摘要: A method and apparatus for communications resource allocation in a wireless communications system having a total system bandwidth. A service area is divided into a plurality sectors. A first set of base station antennas are positioned within a first set of sectors. The first set of antennas have main beams set at a first set of angles, and each antenna corresponds to a sector within the first set of sectors. A second set of base station antennas are positioned within a second set of sectors adjacent to the first set of sectors. The second set of antennas have main beams set at a second set of angles, and each antenna corresponds to a sector within the second set of sectors. Each sector is assigned a portion of the total system bandwidth.

    摘要: The invention provides a system that implements an algorithm for integrated link adaptation and power control to achieve specified error rates and to improve an overall throughput for real-time applications in wireless packet networks. The system initially divides wireless terminals into groups according to their signal path gains. Afterwards, the system can periodically adapt transmissions (i.e., link adaptations) based on the required error rates, actual error statistics and average transmission power for each wireless terminal group. Furthermore, transmission power can be adjusted by an enhanced Kalman-filter method to ensure successful reception.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for neighbor-aware concurrent transmission media access control (MAC) protocol is provided, which determines whether a plurality of communication connections may be established concurrently in a wireless network, where each node in the network obtains the topology information of its multi-hop neighbors via a neighbor discover module. A cross-layer observation module integrates the physical and virtual carrier sensing, observes the address field of a control frame of a MAC layer in the wireless network, and compares the address field information of the control frame against the topology information obtained by the neighbor discover module to determine whether a plurality of connections may be established for concurrent transmission.

    摘要: The invention provides a system that implements an algorithm for integrated link adaptation and power control to achieve specified error rates and to improve an overall throughput for real-time applications in wireless packet networks. The system initially divides wireless terminals into groups according to their signal path gains. The broadcast count corresponding to a number of probe request frames sent by the wireless endpoint to initiate the handoff of the wireless endpoint, and the retry count corresponding to a number of probe response frames sent by the access point to acknowledge receipt of the probe request frames.
