摘要： A fuel injector for use with an internal combustion engine. The fuel injector comprises a valve group subassembly and a coil group subassembly. The valve group subassembly includes a tube assembly having a longitudinal axis that extends between a first end and a second end; a seat that is secured at the second end of the tube assembly and that defines an opening; an armature assembly that is disposed within the tube assembly; a member that biases the armature assembly toward the seat; an adjusting tube that is disposed in the tube assembly and that engages the member for adjusting a biasing force of the member; a filter that is located at least within the tube assembly; and a first attachment portion. The coil group subassembly includes a solenoid coil that is operable to displace the armature assembly with respect to the seat; and a second attachment portion that is fixedly connected to the first attachment portion.

摘要： A method of joining a connector 12 to an electromagnetic actuator 10 is provided. The actuator 10 has a metal housing structure 14, 18 and electrical leads 24, 26 extending from the housing structure. The method includes providing at least one channel 30 in the housing structure and a port 36 communicating with the at least one channel 30 and with a mounting surface 28 of the housing structure. The plastic connector 12 is molded on the mounting surface 28 and plastic material in fluid form is permitted to flow through the port 36 and into the at least one channel 30 to fill the channel and the port. The plastic material is permitted to cool and harden to define the connector 12 with the connector being interlocked with respect to the housing structure via the plastic material in the at least one channel 30.

摘要： A fuel injector is provided. The fuel injector includes a metering member for delivering fuel from a delivery end of the fuel injector. The metering member comprises a seat disposed proximate the delivery end of the fuel injector; and an armature assembly. The armature assembly includes a longitudinal axis, a seating element disposed generally along the longitudinal axis, and an elongated tube. The elongated tube has a first end, a second end, and a tube channel extending from the second end toward the first end. The first end has a first portion connected to the seating element with at least one weld and a second portion disposed distal from the longitudinal axis from the first portion. The armature assembly is reciprocably disposed within the fuel injector between a closed position wherein the seating element is biased against the seat and an open position wherein the seating element is disposed away from the seat. A method of manufacturing the armature assembly is also provided.

摘要： An electromagnetic actuator 10 is provided and includes an upper electromagnet 12, a lower electromagnet 14 spaced from the upper electromagnet and an armature 16 mounted for movement between the upper and lower electromagnets. Shaft structure 20 is operatively associated with the armature for movement therewith. A gas exchange valve 30 is operated by the armature. At least one bushing 24 supports the shaft structure. A metering valve 38 and port structure 60 are provided in the actuator and are constructed and arranged to communicate hydraulic fluid from a source thereof with the at least one bushing and with the armature to cool the armature. The metering valve is preferably associated with a hydraulic lash adjuster 40 which is constructed and arranged to provide hydraulic fluid to the lash adjuster only when the gas exchange valve is in a closed position.
