Abstract:
A transmitting and receiving apparatus using a wavelength-tunable filter according to an exemplary embodiment may include: a filter to generate a filtered optical-reception signal by passing only an allowed-to-be-passed wavelength by using Bragg grating filter; a wavelength setter to set the allowed-to-be-passed wavelength of the filter; and a photoelectric converter to perform photoelectric conversion on the filtered optical-reception signal into an electrical signal.
Abstract:
A method of tuning a wavelength in a TWDM-PON which has a plurality of operable channels is provided. First, a second channel is added as an operating channel of the TWDM-PON in which at least a first channel is working, and then an OLT that is providing a service to an ONU through the first channel requests the ONU to tune to the second channel. In response to receiving the request, the ONU determines whether a downstream wavelength of the second channel has been recorded thereon. According to the determination result, the ONU sends to the OLT an ACK message that indicates that the ONU is able to perform wavelength tuning and then commences wavelength tuning to the second channel, or the ONU sends to the OLT a NACK message that indicates that the ONU is unable to perform wavelength tuning.
Abstract:
The invention presents the channel management technology in a Time and Wavelength Division Multiplexing-Passive Optical network (TWDM-PON). According to an exemplary embodiment, the channel management technology is a wavelength management method for an Optical Network Unit (ONU) having a tunable receiver in the TWDM-PON in which a service is provided through multiple channels, the wavelength management method including: setting a wavelength of the tunable receiver as a first channel to receive a physical synchronization signal from an Optical Line Terminal (OLT); extracting either or both service utilization information and service operator information from the physical synchronization signal; and based on either or both of the service utilization information and the service operator information, determining whether to perform follow-up procedures for activation via the first channel or whether to change the wavelength of the tunable receiver into a second channel.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods and apparatuses for compressing and decompressing data at a sample rate lower than a Nyquist sampling rate for the data. The data compression apparatus comprises a domain converting part performing a domain conversion on input data to generate domain-converted input data, and a data compression part generating compressed data by down-sampling the domain-converted input data at a sampling rate lower than a Nyquist sampling rate. Therefore, data to be transmitted can be compressed in a transmitting end by sampling the data at a sampling rate lower than a Nyquist sampling rate, and then the data can be reproduced in a receiving end. Therefore, a higher compression ratio can be achieved as compared with that of conventional technologies.
Abstract:
An optical transceiver and an optical network system for performing a data communication and monitoring an optical link are disclosed. The optical transceiver may simultaneously perform the data communication and monitor the optical link, and a wavelength of an optical signal for the data communication and a wavelength of an optical signal for monitoring the optical link may be differently set.
Abstract:
Provided is a hybrid passive optical network (PON) system. The hybrid PON system of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM)/time division multiplexing (TDM) may include an optical line terminal (OLT) and an optical network unit (ONU). The OLT and the ONU may transmit a signal based on wavelength reuse using a seed light source and a reflective modulator. The light source may include a seed light source having a single wavelength, two seed light sources having different wavelength bands, and a light source having a wavelength tunable characteristic.
