The invention relates to a blank for producing dental shaped parts, comprising a blank body (1) made of tooth restoration material, from which the shaped part can be machined using a tool (11, 12, 13, 14, 15) for removing material. The aim of the invention is to enable a reliable verification or recognition of the tool fitting or of the type and state of wear of the used tool of a machine tool for the blank. To this end, the blank has at least one gauge (4, 5), whose dimensions are such that the tool present for the machining can be identified by the gauge on the basis of its outer contour. The invention also relates to a method for producing dental shaped parts with a blank body made of tooth restoration material, from which the entire shaped part can be machined in a machining device by a tool for removing material. In order to enable a reliable verification or recognition of the tool fitting or of the type and state of wear of the used tool of a machine tool for the blank, the tool selected for the machining is, before its use, verified with regard to the outer contour thereof by using at least one gauge that is placed upon the blank.

The stage can be rotated through an angular range δ of at least 150° about the swivel axis, and the whole jaw model can be mounted such that said occlusal plane E is aligned parallel to said scanning direction V. A scanning system for carrying out a 3D scan of a tooth model includes an imaging device and a positioning system in the form of a sliding panel which can be positioned and has first locking means. On the locking panel there are provided second locking means which interact with the first locking means such that the sliding panel can assume one of several specified positions relative to the locking panel and locks in the selected position. The sliding panel has means for mounting a dental model and stands on projections disposed on its underside. A 3D scan of a tooth model is provided by creating a first image of the object to be scanned at a precisely defined locked position, moving the sliding panel to at least one further precisely defined locked position and creating another image at each such position, and creating a 3D data set by evaluating the images produced at least two different, precisely defined positions.

The invention relates to a method for the production of a tooth prosthetic piece (21), in particular, a skeleton, using a blank (3) for machining in a material ablating 3D-forming process, said blank being made from a material not yet having the final hardness, comprising a terminal hardening of the formed piece (2) produced during the forming process to give a formed piece (2′), with the final hardness, whereby the 3D forming process is divided into coarse machining process for the blank (3) and a precise finishing process for the formed piece (2′) with the final hardness, in order to give the final form of the tooth prosthesis piece (21). The invention further relates to a mount or mounting set for carrying out the method in said particular fashion, comprising connectors for mounting the blank and suited to the shrinkage factor of the fixed formed piece. A further aspect of the invention concerns a formed piece, which, in addition to the usual over-dimension, has a further over-dimension including the tolerance range for the material shrinkage and the machining process.
