Abstract:
Interproximal reduction guides apparatuses and methods of making and using them are described herein. These interproximal reduction guides apparatuses may include a body that fits over the patient's dental arch and one or more guide slots formed in them configured to limit the motion of an interproximal reduction cutting tool in a defined manner.
Abstract:
An intraoral apparatus and method of using the same. The apparatus includes a tray for positioning within an oral cavity of an individual to receive a dental arch of the individual. Data acquisition elements coupled to the tray are for acquiring data usable for generating images of intraoral features including the dental arch, a palate, a facial sulcus, and a lingual sulcus of the individual. The images are combinable for determining a sulcus depth of the individual.
Abstract:
A system for scanning a dental arch of a patient includes a reference element having a reference pattern thereon; a holding mechanism configured to hold the reference element in a fixed position inside the patient's oral cavity adjacent to and spaced from the dental arch, wherein the holding mechanism is configured to be installed on the patient without contacting an occlusal surface of the dental arch; and an intra-oral scanner configured to scan the dental arch and an adjacent portion of the reference element to obtain a scanned image comprising the scanned portion of the dental arch and the scanned adjacent portion of the reference pattern.
Abstract:
A dental impression tray, a kit, and method of using the same are provided for taking an impression of at least a portion of a dental structure of a patient. The tray can comprise a tray portion, fiduciary markers, and can also have a holding section with two opposing sides and fasteners disposed thereon. The kit can comprise the tray and a handle portion. The handle can be removably secured to the holding section of the tray. In some embodiments, the handle can comprise a pair of handle portions. In other embodiments, a part of the handle can be aligned with a facial feature of a patient from whom a dental impression is to be obtained.
Abstract:
A measured object mounting tool 2 for producing a three-dimensional shape data comprises a placing part 2b at the lower face of a cylindrical part 2a, an inclined part 2c at a boundary between the side face and the upper face of the cylindrical part 2a, and a pillar part 2d at the upper face of the cylindrical part 2a, where the pillar part 2d has a mounting part 2e at the upper face thereof, a three-dimensional coordinate other than the engaging portion 3a of a model 3 is produced by engaging the model of the dental prosthesis with the mounting part 2e of the tool 2 on a placing table 1; detecting a position where a received light amount is remarkably decreased to by a laser sensor detect a lower end of the inclined part 2c; and thereby calculating an upper end of the engaging portion 3a.
Abstract:
A surface mapping and generating device which has devices for the process and/or cost optimization, in particular raw material recovery devices, an automatic control of the intensity of a used laser light, devices for carrying out a calibrating procedure by evaluating overlap errors at matching points, devices for archiving especially three-dimensional data of the jaw and/or for modeling the bite position of the upper and the lower jaws, devices for the optimized preparation of at least one dental stump for the production and placement of a dental prosthesis thereon and/or devices for taking into consideration the bite position of the upper and lower jaws. It can be provided that the devices for the process and/or cost optimization are designed to ensure that two half frames showing different positions or views are evaluated, whereby preferably a pulsed laser for exposure purposes is included and/or that an image recording device, in particular a CCD chip, is arranged so as to ensure that lines, taking into account the Scheimpflug angle, are located perpendicular to the direction of travel of a measuring table. Methods according to the present invention use such devices and function correspondingly. In addition, the invention also makes available a patient data archiving system which comprises a chip card and/or decentralized data storage systems especially for dental data.
Abstract:
A dental cast scanning apparatus is comprised of a base; a single-tooth cast rotating device having a detachable and rotatable first cast-holding jig; a full-teeth cast rotating device having a detachable and rotatable second cast-holding jig; a scanning unit having a scanning probe, an elevator, and a slide rail mounted on the base, for slidable movement along the slide rail; and two swing drivers connected with the single-tooth and full-teeth cast rotating devices. Accordingly, the first and second cast-holding jigs can be driven to swing and rotate with respect to the scanning probe for a predetermined angle to cause efficient and effective scanning outcome.

Abstract:
An attachment part for an implant or second attachment part can be produced at a production station. The external shape of the attachment part is scanned at a scanning station at which a wax model is used. The scanned information is digitized and transmitted to the production station. An insert which has the surface configuration of the implant or of the second attachment part is selected from among a number of units having different possible surface configurations. The unit is applied in or on a holder which is centered on a turntable. The holder is provided with or operates with or operates with orientation information for the holder relative to the table. The model which is designed as a wax model is applied on the holder over the unit. The turntable is rotated and the external shape of the wax model is scanned. A blank with a pre-produced surface configuration which corresponds to the said selected surface configuration is machined in the machining equipment with the aid of the digitized information and the said rotation information.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a fixture or tooling for securely holding an impression tray or study cast on a stage of an X-Y-Z scanning machine to permit accurate scanning of the impression tray, or the study cast, by the scanner of the scanning machine. In one embodiment, the fixture includes a pivoting clamp member that clamps a handle member on the tray or study cast. In a second embodiment, the fixture includes a block slidably disposed thereon for clamping an impression tray or a study cast in a clamping section. A registration fixture utilizing a pair of locking fixtures to simultaneously hold the study casts of the upper and lower sets of teeth to permit registration of the study casts is also provided.
