摘要: An improved nozzle plate includes a nozzle substrate having nozzle holes through which droplets are ejected, and a layer containing a compound having a perfluoro polyether skeleton its molecule. The layer is formed on the nozzle substrate on the side on which the droplets are ejected. The surface of the nozzle plate has an X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) spectrum ascribable to oxygen atom such that the ratio of the area of peak 1 to the area of peak 2 ranges from 0.35 to 0.45, where the peak 1 represents peaks observed between 534 eV and 540 eV and the peak 2 represents peaks observed between 528 eV and 534 eV among peaks between 528 eV to 540 eV.

摘要: A sub tank is provided that includes a case at which an air flow path is formed, the air flow path including an entrance flow path portion that is connected to an ink accommodating portion of the case, and a cross flow path portion that continues from the entrance flow path portion. The cross flow path portion extends in an upper diagonal direction with respect to a reference plane corresponding to the ink liquid level at a standstill state. Another sub tank is provided that includes a case forming an ink accommodating portion, on which case a flexible film member is attached through bonding or welding to seal an opening of the ink accommodating portion and to form one side of the sub tank. A spring is disposed within the ink accommodating portion between the case and the flexible film member, the spring forcing the flexible film member outward.

摘要: A maintenance and recovery device of a liquid droplet discharge apparatus improves a performance of discharging droplets of a liquid having a high-viscosity. A liquid droplet discharge head (34) discharges droplets of a recording liquid from a nozzle. A suction cap member (92a) caps a nozzle plane of the liquid droplet discharge head (34). An inclined surface (191) provides a slope toward an evacuation port (194) on a bottom of the suction cap member (92a). The inclined surface (191) forms an inclination angle with respect to a horizontal plane. The inclined surface is formed of a material having a contact angle with respect to the recording liquid. A sum of the inclination angle and the contact angle is equal to or larger than 70 degrees.

摘要: A method for supplying a liquid from a liquid tank to a head tank fixed to a liquid-jet head utilizing a liquid supply device in a liquid-jet apparatus is disclosed. The method includes jetting the liquid droplets from the liquid-jet head while maintaining a meniscus pressure of the liquid-jet head within a predetermined range; detecting the meniscus pressure of the liquid-jet head; carrying out, when the detected meniscus pressure is lower than the predetermined range, a first liquid supply operation such that the detected meniscus pressure of the liquid-jet head being lower than the predetermined range is restored to the predetermined range; and carrying out, while the first liquid supply operation is not being carried out, a second liquid supply operation such that the liquid is supplied to the head tank in an amount less than a liquid-jetted amount computed based on a liquid-jet signal.

摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a head tank, a main tank, a pump, and a first control unit, so that when pressure in the head tank is not restored to a predetermined pressure while liquid is supplied from the main tank to the head tank, it is determined that the state of the main tank is an empty state, causing a pump to reversely supply a predetermined amount of liquid from the head tank to the main tank, and stopping printing; and further includes a second control unit, so that when emergency printing is instructed, opening the head tank to air, supplying liquid to the head tank, closing the head tank from air, and supplying liquid from the head tank to the main tank to generate a negative pressure in the head tank are performed.

摘要: An ink and ink set characterized in that both a combination of a specific wetting agent, penetrating agent, and water-soluble organic solvent and use of surfactant, particularly fluorine surfactant are enabled by using water dispersion in which polymer fine particles contain coloring material. Even when plain paper is printed at high speed by ink-jet recording by using this ink and ink set, the ink and ink set can realize a pigment ink for ink-jet recording, an ink set, an ink-jet recording method, ink cartridge, and recorder which have an excellent ejection stability and excellent preservability, and provide (1) good color tone, (2) high image density, (3) recorded image free of unsharpness near character or image and feathering and high in sharpness, (4) less boundary color bleedings between different colors, (5) image adaptable to both-side printing and causing less strike-throughs, and (6) image fastness such as water resistance and light resistance.
