Abstract:
The invention relates to a radio device for requesting and receiving a radio network service from at least one cellular radio network, comprising a multi-domain monitoring unit, which is configured to determine, while access to a first one of the radio network domains is maintained, first availability information regarding the requested radio network service from the first radio network domain and second availability information regarding the requested radio network service from at least one second radio network domain of the set of radio network domains, and provide at its output, at least upon determination that the first availability information indicates non-availability of the requested radio network service from the first radio network domain, an availability output indicative at least of those second radio network domains with determined current availability of the requested radio network service.
Abstract:
A method for operating a wireless communication device comprising a communication unit comprising a radio mode decision unit and a transceiver unit, the radio mode decision unit further maintaining a set of network operation modes, the wireless communication device further comprising a controlling appliance, interconnected with the communication unit by means of a command interface. The communication unit ascertains at least one communication behavior parameterization conforming to a preconfigured communication behavior demand of a cellular network1 The controlling appliance submits a transport template dataset comprising a data element relating to an envisaged communication behavior to the communication unit by means of the command interface. The radio mode decision unit determines, for an imminent data exchange session of the wireless communication device with the cellular network by means of the transceiver unit, one of said network operation modes by taking into account said communication behavior parameterization and said transport template dataset.
Abstract:
A method for operating a low-mobility wireless device in a cellular network, wherein the low-mobility wireless device operates with an active base node, and the low-mobility wireless device operates in a first mode, in which measurements of transmissions of base nodes are diminished. When the cellular network is enhanced by a new base node, the active base node transmits a first indication at least to the low-mobility wireless device. The low-mobility wireless device, in response to the reception of the first indication, switches to a second mode of operation, comprising execution of at least one measurement of transmissions of base nodes, and transmits at least one measurement report to the then-active base node. The active base node, upon reception of a measurement report, updates neighbour relation data relating to the base node identified by a base node reference with information obtained from the received measurement report.
Abstract:
A wireless communication device in a cellular network, comprising a plurality of cells, each having a base node, camps on an active cell, which is part of one of two or more radio access networks of the cellular network. The cellular network further comprises at least one device domain, said wireless communication device being assigned to said device domain. The wireless communication device determines measurements of received signal quality of the base node of a cell, and submits to the base node of the active cell said measurements and a request for service. The cellular network sends the wireless communication device an instruction relating to the use of at least one of said radio access networks, based on: the device domain the wireless communication device is assigned to, and the received measurements. The wireless communication device selects a cell for the requested service, based on the instruction.
Abstract:
A method for operating a wireless device within a cellular network having at least two base nodes and providing common channels and at least one downlink non-common channel. The wireless device decodes at least one common channel and the downlink non-common channel, and performs the steps of determining a value relative to the total amount of resources provided by one of the base nodes, determining a value relative to the amount of resources provided by the one base node for the common channels out of the total resources, determining a value relative to the amount of resources suitable of being received by the wireless device, calculating the share of usable resources in comparison to said total resources excluding common resources, and adapting the operation of the wireless device within the cellular network in dependence of the calculated share of usable resources.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a wireless communication device (UE) configured to be operating in a wireless cellular network supporting a wireless technology standard. For solving the problem of blockage of the UE in regards with one cellular network the UE makes a comparison of communication conditions in downlink and in uplink in order to detect unbalanced communication conditions between downlink and uplink channels and, in case downlink communication conditions are acceptable, but uplink communication conditions show a degradation, initiate an inter-RAT reselection.
