    摘要: There is disclosed a fin structure for mounting in an opening in the hull of a power boat having an elongated rectangular panel connected between the base edges of a pair of elongated fins, each fin having a base edge, a leading edge and a trailing edge, being joined to the elongated rectangular panel to locate the pair of fins in substantially parallel alignment and to form a channel adapted to receive a propeller and propeller shaft therein with the propeller in proximity of the trailing edges, the trailing edge of each fin projecting from one end of the base edge beyond the outer most extremeties of the propeller received in the channel, the leading edge extending from the end of the trailing edge and sloping forward along the hull to the other end of the base edge in a manner to be more distant from the rectangular panel at any point than the propeller shaft received in the channel such that the propeller and propeller shaft are entirely contained within the channel formed between the pair of fins to protect the propeller and propeller shaft from damage when the fin structure is mounted in the opening in the hull such that the fins extend from the hull, the leading edges forming skids and offering a minimum of resistance to movement through water as well as adding stability to the hull and increasing the efficiency of the propeller. A rudder may be attached to each trailing edge of the fins and a "V-drive" unit may be added to reverse the longitudinal direction of the transmission power-train between the propeller shaft and an engine inside the hull.

    摘要: A machine operator or service person is alerted to the excessive wear condition of friction discs in friction couplings or brakes of construction machinery by being provided with a visual indication of wear of the friction discs in one embodiment, a wear indicating pin element is shifted axially by a brake piston and the position of the end of the pin element is visible through a window in a brake housing, thereby providing a visual indication of the wear condition of the friction disc. In a second embodiment of the invention the excessive wear condition of the friction discs is revealed by a signal light which is activated by a pressure switch responding to the pressure of the fluid delivered to a brake cylinder when the brake piston moves a predetermined distance in application of the brake.

In addition, novel saddle shaped O-rings closely surrounding the conduit and conforming to the arcuate surface of the valve rod prevent peripheral leakage around the surface of the valve rod in its "off" position.

    摘要: The method of locking a shaft within a bearing so that they are concentrically positioned against rotational and axial relative movement, and an apparatus for practicing such method comprising a complete assembly such as a pillow block bearing which includes an axial extension on the inner race ring of the bearing of a lesser outside diameter than the outside diameter of the main body portion of such inner race ring, with slots spaced equally around the circumference of such extension cut axially inwardly from the outer edge to provide multiple segments therein. A continuous circular collar positioned over the extension includes two threadably mounted set screws spaced apart within an arc substantially 30.degree. to 60.degree. on the continuous circular collar, and in such position of the collar on the extension each set screw is over a segment and the segments are separated by an extension slot. The set screws are tightened in the collar so that each impinges on a corresponding portion of the segmented extension to move such portion into locking engagement with a shaft within the inner race ring. Coincidentally the continuous collar pulls the remaining portion of the segmented extension into engagement with the shaft on the opposite side to that wherein the set screws are positioned.
