Abstract:
The present disclosure provides separation processes for removing heavy organics that are formed in various production processes of HCFO-1233zd(E). Such separation processes allow for the recovery and/or separation of the heavy organics from reactants that are used to form HCFO-1233zd(E), including HF. Such separation or recovery processes may utilize various separation techniques (e.g., decanting, liquid-liquid separation, distillation, and flash distillation) and may also utilize the unique properties of azeotropic or azeotrope-like compositions. Recovery of the heavy organic that is substantially free from HF may allow for their use in subsequent manufacture processes or disposal.
Abstract:
Disclosed are fire extinguishants comprising from about 20% to about 80% by weight of 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (HFO-1233zd) and from about 20% to about 80% by weight of 1,1,1,2,2,4,5,5,5-nonafluoro-4-(trifluoromethyl)-3-pentanone (FK5-1-12), and to methods, systems and containers which use the fire extinguishants.
Abstract:
Compositions comprising multi-fluorinated olefins and HFC-32 are disclosed. Such compositions are useful particularly for in stationary refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses high purity E-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (1233zd(E)) and methods to produce the same. More specifically, the present invention discloses the methods of making 1233zd(E) essentially free of toxic impurities (e.g. 2-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (1233xf), chlorotetrafluoro-propene (1224), and 3,3,3-trifluoropropyne). The present invention further provides methods for making high purity 1233zd(E) with concentration of 1233xf and 1224 at or below 200 parts per million (ppm) and 3,3,3-trifluoropropyne impurities at or below 20 ppm. Formation of 1233xf impurity can be avoided if pure 1,1,1,3,3-pentachloropropane is used as a starting material. It was also found that formation of 1233xf is avoided if a liquid phase manufacturing process is used.
Abstract:
Polyurethane foams having a polymeric foam structure including a plurality of closed cells therein; and an HFO or HCFO blowing agent, including HCFO-1233zd or HFO-1234ze. In certain aspects, foam premixes, and the resulting foam structures, that include HFCO-1233zd as blowing agent used alone, or in certain aspects, in blend with a co-blowing agent such as methyl formate are disclosed.
Abstract:
This invention relates to azeotrope-like compositions, methods and systems having utility in numerous applications, and in particular, uses for azeotrope-like compositions comprising effective amounts of the compound cis-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene (Z-HFO-1336mzzm), which has the following structure: and another material selected from the group consisting of water, fluoroketones, alcohols, hydrochlorofluoroolefins, and combinations of two or more thereof. These compositions may be used in a wide variety of applications such as, blowing agents, refrigerants, heating agents, power cycle agents, cleaning agents, aerosol propellants, sterilization agents, lubricants, flavor and fragrance extractants, flammability reducing agents, and flame suppression agents.

Abstract:
The present technology relates to compositional blends that can be used as refrigerants, and more specifically to blends of vinylidene fluoride and at least one other component for use in very low temperature applications. In at least some examples, the second component can be selected from the group consisting of carbon dioxide and pentafluoroethane. Further, the compositions can be azeotropic or azeotrope-like.
Abstract:
Provided are azeotrope-like compositions comprising heptafluoropropane and trifluoroiodomethane and uses thereof, including use in refrigerant compositions, refrigeration systems, blowing agents, fire suppressant compositions, and aerosol propellants.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a process for the preparation of cis-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (cis-1233zd) comprising the steps of (a) providing CF3CHClCHCl2 (233da), and (b) treating the 233da with a dechlorinating agent to produce a mixture of compounds including cis-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene, preferably wherein the amount of the cis-isomer generated in the reaction is not less than 30%.
