A phenomenon item (F) other than phenomenon items (A, B and C) for which frequency-of-occurrence data are already inputted is selected based on the degree of association data regarding cause items (2, 3 and 4) having the highest certainty among cause items (1-5) whose certainties are calculated. The frequency-of-occurrence data of the selected phenomenon item (F) and already inputted frequency-of-occurrence data are inputted again and the certainties of the cause items are computed. By repeating such selection and arithmetic processing at least once, causes are narrowed down as a final inference.

    摘要: An apparatus for correctly inferring the causes of a failure of driving machine or the like. Each time a true cause is found, the data on the degree of relevance of the cause is so corrected that the degree of the other causes becomes high and those of the other causes become low. On the basis of the data on the failure rate and the data on the degree of the relevance, the certainty of each cause is inferred by a first inferring means. The data on the predicted failure rate of each cause and the data on the actual failure rate are compared, and the certainty of each cause is inferred by a second inferring means in such a way that the certainty of a cause having less errors becomes higher. The certainties inferred by the first and second inferring means are weighted in a predetermined way. Based upon these weighted certainties, final certainties are inferred.

    摘要: In the seat belt pretensioner device according to the present invention, because the buckle is pulled by urging an intermediate point of the cable, it is possible to pull the seat belt and buckle by a required stroke with a relatively small stroke of the power actuator, and this contributes to a compact design of the device. Because the buckle can be pulled via a fixed point of a cable guide, the buckle and, hence, seat belt can be pulled in a stable manner, and a high level of reliability can be achieved. For instance when the power actuator comprises a piston rod that is pushed out by high pressure gas, because a high pressure gas can be produced with a relatively small device, the size and weight of the device can be minimized. By using a cushioning strucgture for gradually absorbing kinetic energy toward the terminal end of the motion of the power actuator, an inadvertent unlatching of the buckle owing to an impulsive movement of the buckle can be avoided, and an excessive reaction force is prevented from being transmitted to the pretensioner device. This reduces the need for a high mechanical strength, and contributes to compact design. Also, impulsive noises at the terminal end of the operation of the device can be minimized and the device can operate in a quite manner.

    摘要: In a pretensioner device for automatically increasing a tension of a seat belt in case of a vehicle crash which uses a piston and cylinder arrangement as a power generator, a spring member resiliently urges the piston assembly in the direction of actuation so that any play that may be present in each connecting potion of the path of power transmission can be eliminated. Therefore, collision between component parts at the time of activating the power generator can be prevented, and the loss of energy which could arise from such collision can be avoided. The piston assembly may comprise a piston main body slidably received in the cylinder, and a piston rod having a base end abutting an opposing end of the piston main body and a free end projecting out of the open free end of the cylinder while the cylinder is provided with an inwardly directed radial flange for preventing the piston main body from being projected out of the cylinder. Thus, the piston rod may be kept removed from the assembly during transportation and storage so that an inadvertent activation of the power generator would only cause the movement of the piston main body inside the cylinder, and the handling of the assembly can be therefore simplified.

An actuator unit which generates a drive force is attached along the upper frame. A headrest support frame is provided to the upper frame so as to be capable of moving in a front-and-back direction. When an acceleration equal to or above a predetermined value is applied to a vehicle by a collision from behind, a drive force generated by an operation of the actuator unit is transmitted to the headrest support frame. By moving the headrest support frame in a direction along which it approaches an occupant by using this drive force, a headrest supported to the headrest support frame moves frontward.
