    Abstract: A magnetic recording medium made by coating a base with a magnetic coating material which is a dispersion of magnetic particles in a binder of synthetic resins using a polyfunctional aromatic isocyanate as a curing agent, characterized by the addition of a sorbitan stearate type surface active agent which has a sorbitol derivative in the hydrophilic group. The present magnetic recording medium has superior mechanical properties, especially a superior running quality as well as superior electromagnetic properties.

    Abstract: A magnetic recording medium comprises a magnetic coating material, or a dispersion of magnetic particles in a resinous binder, and a base to which the coating material is solidly applied, the resinous binder comprising as its ingredients a copolymer composed of vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, a vinyl alkylcarboxylate, another monomer copolymerizable with vinyl chloride, and a saponified vinyl alkylcarboxylate and having an OH/CH absorption ratio according to the infrared absorption spectrum of at least 0.2, a polyurethane resin having in its molecule a --SO.sub.3 M group wherein M represents an alkali metal atom, and a polyisocyanate.

    Abstract: A magnetic recording medium which has dynamic range (I) of 70 dB or more and dynamic range (II) of 45 dB or more in control of a thickness of a magnetic layer and magnetic characteristics wherein said dynamic range (I) is given as a difference between an output at 3% input level of third harmonic wave output at a wavelength of 237.5 .mu.m in the optimum bias recording by a head having a recorded width of 1 to 1.1 mm based on an output of the original signal and a reproduced output calibrated by auditory sense calibration at non-signal recording in the bias and said dynamic range (II) is given as a difference between a saturated output at a wavelength of 4.75 .mu.m under the same condition and the reproduced output calibrated by the A-curve calibration at non-signal recording in the bias.
