Abstract: A camera input can be used by the computer to support audio spatialization or to improve audio spatialization of an application that already supports it. A computer system may to support audio spatialization, for example, by modifying the relative latency or relative amplitude of the rendered audio packets. If a sound is intended, for example, to be located on the left side of the user, then the audio channel that is rendered on the headset speaker located on the user's left ear may have a somewhat decreased latency and increased amplitude compared to the other audio channel.

Abstract: An apparatus includes at least one memory, instructions, and processor circuitry to execute the instructions to track movement of a head of a user wearing earphones, the earphones to move with the movement of the head of the user, the earphones to be communicatively coupled to a computing device. The processor circuitry is to obtain media content, the media content including first audio data for a first channel and second audio data for a second channel. The processor circuitry is to adjust, based on the movement of the head of the user, the first audio data for the first channel and the second audio data for the second channel. The processor circuitry is to cause the adjusted first audio data and the adjusted second audio data to be played by the earphones.

Abstract: Touch control surfaces for electronic user devices are disclosed herein. An example electronic device includes a microphone array and processor circuitry to detect a first acoustic event based on signals output by the microphone array, the first acoustic event indicative of a first touch on a surface of the device at a first time; detect a second acoustic event based on the signals, the second acoustic event indicative of a second touch on the surface at a second time; determine a first location of the first touch and a second location of the second touch; identify the first time and the second time as occurring within a threshold period of time; identify a gesture based on the first location, the second location, and the occurrence of the first touch and the second touch within the threshold; and cause an output at the device in response to the gesture.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for reliably masking speech commands directed to one or more computing devices to prevent the speech commands from being rendered. In some embodiments, each of the one or more computing devices includes components configured to generate acoustic data from ambient sound waves, process the acoustic data to identify a speech command sequence, and mask the speech command sequence from being rendered. At least some of the systems and methods disclosed herein monitor inbound audio at a fine grain level of detail. Working at this level of granularity enables the system and methods described herein to detect potential speech commands early within the user's utterance thereof and to discriminate quickly between true speech commands and other user utterances. These early detection and discrimination features, in turn, enable some embodiments to manage potential communication disruptions (e.g., jitter and/or latency) by modifying rates of audio prior to rendering.

Abstract: Small-scale audio speakers of various shapes are installed in parent devices. Inner casings, and the surrounding vibration-damping zone often required between such casings and the surrounding parent-device walls, are omitted from the assembly. During integration with the parent device, each un-encased speaker and its signal lines are sealed into a single-walled enclosure that incorporates a parent-device wall as at least one side. The entire interior of the single-walled enclosure becomes a back volume for the speaker. The single-walled enclosure may incorporate seals at the speaker's audio-output aperture, at the pass-through for the signal lines, and at the interface between the parent-device wall(s) and the added side(s) constituting the single-walled enclosure. Optional adhesive-free sealing options include sliding tabs held by a snap-lock latch.
