Abstract: Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, virtualized network function resources may be managed in a network. Performance measurements may be received for at least one mobility management entity (MME) in an MME pool, or for other network elements. If at least one of the performance measurements exceeds at least one predetermined threshold, instantiation of a new mobility management entity virtual network function (MME VNF) may be requested, and the MME VNF may be instantiated in response to the request. One or more user equipment (UE) devices managed by the MME pool may be connected to the added MME VNF.

Abstract: Embodiments use the principles of self-organizing networks to allocate resources to allow spectrum owners to share spectrum with wireless carriers according to defined license conditions. A spectrum licensee holds the licensing conditions of the spectrum licensed by the spectrum owners. This licensed spectrum is referred to as secondary spectrum. A self-organizing network server requests access to secondary spectrum. The spectrum licensee grants access to the secondary spectrum along with the licensing conditions for access. The self-organizing network server monitors the conditions associated with the license and/or delegates the responsibility for monitoring conditions associated with the license to others. When the license conditions are met, enhanced Node B systems may begin using the secondary spectrum according to the license conditions. When the license conditions are no longer met, enhanced Node B systems discontinue use of the secondary spectrum.

In various aspects, techniques are discussed for: creating PM jobs at the NFVI based on a request from a NM (Network Manager), creating thresholds to monitor PM data collected in connection with PM jobs based on a request from the NM, subscribing the NM to TC (threshold crossing) notifications based on a request from the NM, and reporting TC notifications to the NM.

Abstract: A network management function (NMF) is configured to instantiate a network service (NS), update a NS, and/or establish a relation between a virtualized network function (VNF) instance and a physical network function (PNF) instance. The NMF may instantiate, for example, a NS including a new VNF that is part of a base station or a g Node B (gNB), a NS including a PNF that is part of the gNB, or a NS that includes a PNF and a new VNF that form a gNB. The NMF may also, for example, update a NS to add a VNF instance to a NS that already includes a PNF instance to form a gNB, or update a NS to add a PNF instance to a NS that already includes a VNF instance to form a gNB.

Abstract: Techniques for linking managed object (MO) operations and lifecycle operations associated with VNFs (Virtual Network Functions) are discussed. In various actions, MO operations can trigger associated lifecycle operations, or lifecycle operations can trigger associated MO operations. In some aspects, MO instance creation by an EM (Element Manager) can trigger associated VNF instantiation by a VNFM (VNF Manager), or vice versa. In the same or other aspects, MO instance deletion by an EM can trigger termination of an associated VNF by a VNFM, or vice versa.

Abstract: Methods and system to perform notification subscriptions in a network function virtualization (NFV) network are discussed.
