Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer-readable storage media for load. A load balancer can input data to the plurality of computing devices configured to process the input data according to a load-balancing distribution. The load balancer can receive from a first computing device of the plurality of computing devices, data characterizing memory bandwidth for a memory device on the first computing device and over a period of time. The load balancer can determine, at least from the data characterizing the memory bandwidth and a memory bandwidth saturation point for the first computing device, that the first computing device can process additional data within a predetermined latency threshold. In response to the determining, the load balancer can send the additional data to the first computing device.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for providing dynamic spatial allocation of satellite capacity based on aircraft load forecasting. In embodiments, a satellite communications system provides network access service over a service area via a plurality of satellite user beams, predicts spatial network resource demand for the service area over one or more service periods based at least in part on forecasted travel paths of a plurality of mobile multi-user terminals over the one or more service periods and respective predicted service demands for the plurality of mobile multi-user terminals, determines a satellite capacity resource configuration for the plurality of satellite user beams for the one or more service periods based on the predicted spatial network resource demand, and then adapts at least one characteristic of the plurality of satellite user beams for the one or more service.

Abstract: A set of demands on a communication network between a source node and a terminal node can be packed into a set of packages. Each package can be associated with a corresponding transceiver type. The packing of the set of demands into the set of packages can be performed using a heuristic method or a dynamic programming method. The packing of the set of demands can depend on the costs associated with each package. Multiple packings can be generated using different packing conditions. One of the multiple packings can then be selected. The communication network can be configured to satisfy each package using a transceiver of the corresponding transceiver type.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a computer implemented method for assessing network bandwidth availability in a network connection having unknown excess capacity beyond an initial network capacity is provided. There are two cases to be considered: (1) the network has a given capacity and the system doesn't know what it is (e.g., on a cellular network) this capacity may change over time as more users use the network and/or a user is mobile, and (2) the system is assigned capacity but by pushing the network, the system may be able to get more capacity (e.g., on a satellite hub). The excess capacity may be quantified for future potential opportunistic, emergency or priority usage, or in some embodiments, utilized periodically or continuously.

In one implementation of the disclosure, when a content player or device requests a content fragments, a local cache may determine a bandwidth or data rate related to transmission of a content fragment from a source to the cache, and send the fragment to the player at a rate corresponding to the determined bandwidth or data rate.

Abstract: A network services provider delivers bandwidth services to users in relation to a dynamic limit based on an average user consumption, rather than a fixed amount per subscriber. An average user consumption is employed to compute a consumption limit from relative portions of a user community substantially exceed the average, typically defined as “heavy users.” Usage levels below the consumption limit have an increased availability up to the consumption limit. The consumption limit may vary from a total capacity of the service infrastructure, which changes, generally in an increasing manner, as additional resources are added to the network. The consumption limits may be defined over different service intervals, such as daily, weekly or monthly, and for different groups of users depending on network layout.

The processor is to: receive a workload provisioning request from a user, wherein the workload provisioning request comprises information associated with a workload, a network topology, and a plurality of potential hardware choices for deploying the workload over the network topology; receive hardware performance information for the plurality of potential hardware choices from one or more hardware providers; generate a task dependency graph associated with the workload; generate a device connectivity graph associated with the network topology; select, based on the task dependency graph and the device connectivity graph, one or more hardware choices from the plurality of potential hardware choices; and provision a plurality of resources for deploying the workload over the network topology, wherein the plurality of resources are provisioned based on the one or more hardware choices.
