Abstract: Methods and system may be used for collision detection for orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA)-based random access. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive, from an access point (AP), a first trigger frame triggering random access using OFDMA. The WTRU may transmit, to the AP, in response to the first trigger frame a trigger-based frame including user specific control information in a signal (SIG) field. The WTRU may receive an acknowledgment/negative acknowledgment (ACK/NAK) message indicating that the trigger-based frame was successfully detected at the AP or that the trigger-based frame was not successfully detected at the AP. The WTRU receive, from the AP, a scheduling retransmission frame including rescheduling information for STAs with corrupted UL transmissions. On a condition that the scheduling retransmission frame indicates that a collision of the trigger-based frame was detected, the WTRU may retransmit the trigger-based frame

Abstract: Methods for multiple input-multiple output (MIMO) transmission are provided herein. A method may include sensing, using at least one of a plurality of antenna chains, radio frequency (RF) energy on a channel in a first time duration and may indicate the channel is busy. RF energy may be sensed on the channel using the at least one of the plurality of antenna chains in a second time duration and may indicate the channel is not busy. A method may include sending energy level sensed during the second time duration, a frame using the at least one of the plurality of antenna chains. The frame may indicate timing information associated with a MIMO transmission. The MIMO transmission may be sent using the indicated timing information and the at least one of the plurality of antenna chains.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for enhancing random access procedures are described herein. A method performed by an access point (AP) may comprise allocating a plurality of random access (RA) resource units (RA-RUs) for transmitting a message from a station (STA) to the AP over an upper or lower frequency band. The method may comprise transmitting, to a station (STA), one or more physical layer convergence procedure (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) over the upper or lower frequency bands. Each of the one or more PPDUs may include a trigger frame, and the trigger frame may include an indication of the plurality of RA-RUs and a target received signal strength indicator (TRSSI) associated with at least one of the upper or lower frequency bands. The method may comprise receiving, in response to the trigger frame, the message from the STA in one of the plurality of RA-RUs.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described. A station includes a transceiver and a processor, which detect a trigger frame for an uplink (UL) multi-user (MU) transmission. The trigger frame includes a user information field with an allocation of one or more random access resource units (RUs) and a common information field with information to set high efficiency (HE) SIGNAL-A (HE-SIG-A) fields in the UL MU transmission. The transceiver and the processor generate an HE trigger-based (TB) physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) and set an HE-SIG-A field in the HE TB PPDU using the information in the trigger frame. The transceiver and the processor select one of the one or more random access RUs and transmit the HE TB PPDU, using the selected one of the one or more random access RUs, a short inter-frame space after the trigger frame.

Abstract: Presently disclosed are systems and methods for beamforming training in WLANs. In various embodiments, there are unified MIMO beamforming training procedure, which includes a training period in which an initiator transmits multiple unified training frames for performing a transmit-beamforming training of the initiator and a receive-beamforming training of one or more responders; a feedback period in which each responder replies with a beamforming-feedback response; and an acknowledgement period during which the initiator transmits respective acknowledgement frames to the one or more responders from which responses were received. Rules for restricted random access in various slots of the feedback period may be implemented, to address response contention between multiple qualifying responders.

Abstract: Systems and methods for multidimensional beam refinement procedures and signaling for millimeter wave WLANs. In some embodiments, there are multi-dimensional enhanced beam refinement protocol MAC and PHY frame designs that extend the MAC packet and the PPDU format with or without backwards compatibility. The multiple dimensions may be supported jointly or separately. In other embodiments, the increased data signaled in the eBRP frame designs may be more efficiently signaled with reduced BRP frame sizes, such as through a training type dependent BRP minimum duration selection procedure or use of null data packet BRP frames. In further embodiments, the maximum duration of the interframe spacing between BPR packets may be varied to improve the efficiency of BRP operation.

Abstract: A method and apparatus may be configured to support coordinated orthogonal block-based resource allocation (COBRA) operations. An access point (AP) may be configured to indicate to a plurality of stations (STA)s that it may support COBRA. Each WTRU may be configured to indicate to the AP that it can support COBRA as well. The AP may be configured to transmit a COBRA controller information element (IE) comprising a plurality of fields to each of the WTRUs. Each WTRU may be configured to transmit a COBRA controllee IE comprising a plurality of fields. STA grouping management, group maintenance, channel access, beamforming, sounding and frequency and synchronization procedures are also described.
