Abstract: Systems and methods for multidimensional beam refinement procedures and signaling for millimeter wave WLANs. In some embodiments, there are multi-dimensional enhanced beam refinement protocol MAC and PHY frame designs that extend the MAC packet and the PPDU format with or without backwards compatibility. The multiple dimensions may be supported jointly or separately. In other embodiments, the increased data signaled in the eBRP frame designs may be more efficiently signaled with reduced BRP frame sizes, such as through a training type dependent BRP minimum duration selection procedure or use of null data packet BRP frames. In further embodiments, the maximum duration of the interframe spacing between BPR packets may be varied to improve the efficiency of BRP operation.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for protection of multi-user (MU) transmission are described herein. An apparatus includes a receiver, a transmitter and a processor. The receiver and the processor detect a trigger frame for an uplink (UL) multi-user (MU) transmission. The processor and the transmitter generate and send a frame in response to the trigger frame and transmit channel availability information for a plurality of channels in response to the trigger frame. The receiver and the processor detect data in a resource unit (RU) of a downlink (DL) MU physical layer (PHY) protocol data unit (PPDU) on one of the plurality of channels. The one of the plurality of channels is based on the transmitted channel availability information.

Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may be configured to perform wake up radio (WUR) for one or more WUR receivers. For example, the WTRU may transmit a common preamble to a first WUR receiver using a first frequency range. The WTRU may transmit a first WUR packet to the WUR receiver, after the common preamble. The WTRU may transmit the common preamble to a second WUR receiver using a second frequency range. The WTRU may transmit a second WUR packet after the common preamble, The bandwidth associated with the second WUR packet and the bandwidth associated with the first WUR packet may be smaller than the bandwidth associated with the common preamble, which may avoid interference from other transmitters {e.g., 802.11 transmitters, 802.11 stations, and 802.11 radios). The bandwidth associated with the first WUR packet and the bandwidth associated with the second WUR packet may not be coextensive with one another.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and/or instrumentalities are disclosed for dynamic allocation (e.g. of communication channel time with an access point (AP)) to a plurality of wireless transmit/receive units (STA(s)/WTRUs) in dense mmWave networks. Dynamic allocation may be implemented in multiple (e.g. four) sub-phases, (e.g. a polling period sub-phase with polls, a polling period sub-phase with service period requests (SPRs), a grant sub-phase and/or a data transfer sub-phase). Multi-dimensional dynamic allocation may address multiple STAs simultaneously (e.g. using one or more different dimensions such as space, frequency, and/or code). Directional channel access may provide a contention-based uplink in which STAs compete (e.g. during an uplink request period) to send data requests. Efficient dynamic allocation may optimize signaling and/or operation in sub-phases (e.g. using grouped polling, grouped SPR and/or grouped grant frames). Dynamic allocation with subphase overlap may allow different sub-phases of a dynamic allocation procedure to overlap.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for minimizing inter-cell interference at multiple wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) using a shared node (SN). Each WTRU may be configured to receive a desired signal transmitted by a base station in a cell combined with interfering signals transmitted by other base stations in other cells in a first transmission time interval (TTI), and a precoded signal transmitted by the SN in a second TTI. The WTRUs may buffer the desired and interfering mixed signals received in the first TTI, and then combine the buffered signals with the precoded signal received in the second TTI to minimize the interfering signal's power and maximize the desired signal's power at each WTRU so that the desired signal may be decoded with higher probability. The SN may generate the precoded signal based on codewords or codeword components transmitted by the base stations in the same resource blocks.
