    Abstract: An elevator installation wherein damage to a support for an elevator car and a counterweight, in particular damage to a sheath of the support, advantageously can be detected. At the elevator installation, a housing at least partially extending around the support, for example at a deflecting roller arrangement. A surface of the housing facing the support is electrically conductive and is electrically grounded. If the support or a wire coming out of the damaged support comes in contact with the housing, an electrical ground fault results. The ground fault can be detected by a security monitoring unit by monitoring a current flowing through the wires of the support, and the damage to the support can thus be inferred.

    Abstract: A supporting belt for an elevator installation has at least one elongate load-bearing element, a casing surrounding the load-bearing element and multiple sensors. The sensors are arranged on the belt at multiple positions spaced apart from one another along a longitudinal direction of the belt. The sensors each determine at least one physical characteristic of the load-bearing element in a region locally adjacent to the respective sensor and output a signal indicating the physical characteristic. For example, a sensor may determine a local expansion, a local bending, a local acceleration, a locally acting force, a local temperature and/or an electrical conductivity at, in or through the belt. The state of the belt can thereby be determined not only as an average for the entire belt but with regard to multiple positions along the length of the belt, enabling an improved determination regarding discard criteria of the belt.

    Abstract: In an elevator installation a belt-like support is guided over a drive and over at least one deflecting roller. The deflecting roller includes an inner ring and an outer ring with a traction surface. The belt-like support loads the deflecting roller in a direction of loading, wherein the direction of loading is oriented substantially perpendicularly to an axis of the deflecting roller.
