    摘要: An optical disc player and method reproducing data from an optical disc. The optical disc player may include a data reproducing module irradiating a laser signal onto the optical disc to reproduce a predetermined radio frequency signal corresponding to the data, and a controller determining that a reproduction area of the optical disc is an open session when the data reproducing module reproduces the radio frequency signal having a magnitude less than or equal a predetermined threshold value for a predetermined threshold time. The controller may reproduce the table of contents information recorded in a lead-in area of each session of the optical disc to check the magnitude of a reproduced radio frequency signal so as to determine whether each session is open. As a result, a rapid decision can be made as to whether each session is open to speedily complete a preparation for reproduction and recording from/to the optical disc.

    摘要: A backlight inverter system and a start-up control method thereof to apply an optimal start-up voltage to a backlight lamp according to an environment temperature, such that the backlight lamp is stably started without damage to the system. If the backlight lamp is not started in the normal condition, the start-up voltage level is gradually increased. The start-up voltage level is adjusted by controlling an amount of electric current flowing into the backlight lamp by using a plurality of parallel-connected capacitors, each having a switching element. If an abnormal electric current is detected in the backlight inverter system, an automatic shut-down function is further performed to automatically stop the system, thereby protecting the system from an overcurrent.

    摘要: In a fixed bit-rate encoding method, a unit block composed of a predetermined number of transform blocks is constructed by dividing input image data into transform blocks and a unit for fixing the bit-amount is constructed by extracting one of the predetermined number of unit blocks, to thereby perform transform-encoding. A real compression scale factor is calculated by quantizing the transform coefficient obtained by a transform-encoding operation according to initial compression scale factors and by comparing the bit-amount quantized in a unit block with a target bit-amount. The transform coefficient is quantized in a unit block using said real compression scale factor, and the quantized transform coefficient is variable-length-encoded to have the bit-amount fixed in an bit-amount fixing unit. The encoded DC coefficient and a predetermined number of low-frequency AC coefficients are recorded in an IDC data region and the all of the encoded coefficients are recorded in a DDC data region. The fixed bit-rate is easily performed by setting a bit-amount fixing unit as a cluster which is smaller than a frame. When the high-speed search operation is performed, information of the scanning position corresponding to each searching speed is scanned after scanning only the IDC region located in the leading end of the recording track, including most of the image information. Accordingly, most of the image information is reproduced even when the head does not scan the whole recording track.
