摘要: Provided is a magnetic tape apparatus. During running of a magnetic tape in the magnetic tape apparatus, an angle θ formed by an axis of an element array of a magnetic head with respect to a width direction of the magnetic tape is changed. The magnetic tape satisfies Expression 1, the Equation 1: TDSage+TDSenv−TC≤0.10 μm. In Expression 1, TDSage is a maximum value of an absolute value of a difference between a servo band interval obtained before storage and a servo band interval obtained after the storage in a predetermined environment for 36 hours. TDSenv is a value calculated by multiplying a difference between a maximum value and a minimum value in the servo band intervals obtained in each of predetermined five environments by ½, and TC is a value calculated by TC=L{cos(θinitial−Δθ)−cos(θinitial+Δθ)}.

摘要: Provided is a system, method, and computer program product for minimizing high resolution tape directory (HRTD) recovery time when a HRTD is invalid. A tape drive may load a tape in the tape drive. In response to receiving a write command or a read command at a beginning of tape (BOT) position, the tape drive may execute the write command or the read command without performing HRTD recovery. In response to receiving the write command or the read command at a position other than the BOT position, the tape drive may determine if the HRTD is valid. In response to determining the HRTD is not valid, the tape drive may clear a timer.
