摘要: A video coding system that uses template matching (TM) to improve signaling of coding modes is provided. The system receives data to be encoded or decoded as a current block of a current picture of a video. The system identifies a set of pixels neighboring the current block as a current template. The system identifies a reference template of each candidate coding mode in a plurality of candidate coding modes. The system computes a template matching (TM) cost for each candidate coding mode based on matching the current template with the reference template of the candidate coding mode. The system selects a candidate coding mode from the plurality of candidate coding modes based on the computed TM costs. The system reconstructs the current block or encoding the current block into a bitstream by using selected candidate coding mode.

摘要: A video data stream is rendered reducible in a manner so that the reduction leads to a restriction of pictures of the reduced video data stream to merely a predetermined subarea of the pictures of the original video data stream and in a manner so that transcoding, such as re-quantization, may be avoided and a conformance of the reduced video data stream relative to the codec underlying the original video data stream be maintained. This is achieved by providing the video data stream with information including an indication of the predetermined subarea and replacement indices for redirecting the indices included by the payload portion so as to refer to, and/or replacement parameters for adjusting the first set of coding parameter settings so as to result in, a second set of coding parameter settings.

摘要: In some embodiments, a method determines feature values for a portion of a video and a target configuration. The target configuration is associated with a parameter of an encoder and includes a set of bitrates and a resolution. A plurality of quality values is generated for the set of bitrates and the resolution based on the feature values. The method generates a representation of a relationship between bitrate and the plurality of quality values for the resolution. The representation is analyzed to determine a list of bitrates for the portion of the video. The method outputs he list of bitrates for use encoding the portion of the video using the resolution.

摘要: A video encoding system in which pixel data is decomposed into frequency bands prior to encoding. The frequency bands for a slice of a frame may be buffered so that complexity statistics may be calculated across the frequency bands prior to encoding. The statistics may then be used by a rate control component in determining quantization parameters for the frequency bands for modulating the rate in the encoder for the current slice. The quantization parameters for the frequency bands may be calculated jointly to optimize the quality of the displayed frames after decoder reconstruction and wavelet synthesis on a receiving device. Information about one or more previously processed frames may be used in combination with the statistics for a current slice in determining the quantization parameters for the current slice.

摘要: An input image to a pipeline of chained reshaping functions is received. Reference images are generated from the input image. The input image and the reference images are used to determine operational parameters for chained reshaping functions in the pipeline of chained reshaping functions. A reshaped image generated from one or more of the chained reshaping functions is encoded in a video signal along with image metadata. The image metadata includes some or all of the operational parameters specifying the chained reshaping functions. A recipient device of the video signal is caused to use the image metadata and the reshaped image to generate a reconstructed image.
