Abstract: A liquid crystal element (100) includes a first electrode (20), a first liquid crystal layer (40), a second electrode (50), a second liquid crystal layer (70), and a third electrode (80). The first electrode (20) has light transmittance. The first liquid crystal layer (40) contains first macromolecules and a plurality of first liquid crystal molecules. The second electrode (50) has light transmittance. The second liquid crystal layer (70) contains second macromolecules and a plurality of second liquid crystal molecules. The first liquid crystal layer (40) is placed between the first electrode (20) and the second electrode (50). The second liquid crystal layer (70) is placed between the second electrode (50) and the third electrode (80). The first macromolecules form a three-dimensional network structure in the first liquid crystal layer (40). The second macromolecules form a three-dimensional network structure in the second liquid crystal layer (70).

Abstract: A solar cell device (100) includes an optical waveguide section (1), a solar cell (5), and a light diffracting section (3). The light diffracting section (3) is disposed in a different layer level from the optical waveguide section (1) and is opposite to the optical waveguide section (1). The light diffracting section (3) diffracts light (LT2) in at least a portion of a wavelength band of light (LT1) incident to the light diffracting section (3) toward the optical waveguide section (1) and allows the light (LT2) in at least the portion of the wavelength band to enter the optical waveguide section (1). The optical waveguide section (1) guides the light (LT2) diffracted by the light diffracting section (3) and entering inside the optical waveguide section (1). The solar cell (5) receives the light (LT2) guided by the optical waveguide section (1) and converts energy of the light (LT2) to electrical power.

Abstract: A liquid crystal element (100) refracts and outputs light. The liquid crystal element (100) includes a first electrode (1), a second electrode (2), an insulating layer (21) that is an electric insulator, a resistance layer (22), a liquid crystal layer (23) including liquid crystal, and a third electrode (3). The insulating layer (21) is disposed between each location of the first and second electrodes (1) and (2) and the resistance layer (22) to insulate the first and second electrodes (1) and (2) from the resistance layer (22). The resistance layer (22) has an electrical resistivity higher than that of the first electrode (1) and lower than that of the insulating layer (21). The resistance layer (22) and the liquid crystal layer (23) are disposed between the insulating layer (21) and the third electrode (3). The resistance layer (22) is disposed between the insulating layer (21) and the liquid crystal layer (23). The insulating layer (21) has a thickness (ts) smaller than a thickness (th) of the resistance layer (22).

Abstract: A liquid crystal element is provided that can inhibit occurrence of voltage drop between one end and the other end of each electrode. A liquid crystal element (100) includes a liquid crystal layer LQ, a plurality of first arcuate electrodes (1), and a plurality of second arcuate electrodes (2). The first arcuate electrodes (1) are disposed concentrically about an optical axis (AX) of the liquid crystal element (100) and applies first voltage (Vi) to the liquid crystal layer (LQ). The second arcuate electrodes (2) are disposed concentrically about the optical axis (AX) and applies second voltage (V2) to the liquid crystal layer (LQ).
