摘要:
A hydraulic suction fuse is mounted in a conventional debris collection trap of a swimming pool, spa or the like, to significantly reduce or eliminate any suction force on the bottom or side wall mounted drain of the swimming pool, spa or the like, as a result of the drain becoming essentially wholly covered by a body part of a person or other drain clogging article. Alternatively, the hydraulic suction fuse may be mounted in a compartment in line between the drain and a suction pump of a swimming pool, spa or the like. Thereby, a person captured by the suction force at the drain will be released and the person is free to move away from the drain essentially instantaneously upon contact with the drain. In one embodiment, the hydraulic suction fuse is self resetting once inflow through the drain is no longer restricted. In another embodiment of the hydraulic suction fuse, the hydraulic suction fuse may be easily manually reset.

The swimming pool floor or spa floor drain assembly of the present invention includes a drain body having a mouth positionable in proximity to the pool wall to serve as a fluid flow inlet, a spaced apart fluid flow outlet positionable below the mouth and a sidewall interconnecting the mouth with the outlet to define a fluid flow chamber. The cross sectional area of the fluid flow chamber decreases from the mouth to the base. A fluid deflecting plug includes a comparatively large area top and a comparatively small area base. A sidewall interconnects the top and base to form the plug with a cross sectional area decreasing form the top to the base. A support structure positions the plug within the drain body such that at least a substantial portion of the plug sidewall is spaced apart from the drain body sidewall to define a fluid flow channel having a first comparatively larger cross sectional area in proximity to the drain body mouth and a second comparatively smaller cross sectional area in proximity to the drain body outlet. The variation in the cross sectional area from the drain body mouth to the drain body outlet provides a lower fluid flow velocity at the mouth than at the outlet when fluid is transferred from the pool through the floor drain assembly.

A method and apparatus for removing sediment such as leaves and debris from a pool by inducing turbulence in the pool water to stir up the sediment within local regions of the pool, and directing a steady jet of water from a stationary jet to provide a fixed direction gathering stream or pathway to capture and carry the sediment to the inlet of a leaf receiver which is fixed in position at the end of the pathway. Local area turbulence can be achieved in various ways, including the use of manual sweep brooms, water jet propelled devices carrying flexible sweep hoses, or an arrangement of rotary nozzles operative to sweep across and induce turbulence over camparatively large local regions of the pool. The leaf receiver in connected by a conduit to an externally located foraminous leaf collector mounted in a collector tank from which water is pumped, leaving the collected leaves in the leaf collector. An access cover in the pool deck can be opened to reach and withdraw the leaf collector for emptying. The leaf collector is on the inlet side of the pool pump, doubling as a pump leaf basket, and the usual pool filter is on the discharge side of the pump. The pump discharge is through a conduit having venturi orifices to draw water from the collector tank for discharge through a conduit emptying into the pool.

A fluid distributing valve has the supply opening or conduit and the outlet openings or conduits disposed on the same side of the valve and oriented in the same direction. Accordingly the need for having couplings or unions to connect the supply pipe to the valve are eliminated. The valve includes a flow chamber or compartment and a control chamber or compartment so that the fluid passing through the valve does not flow past the operating members. By-passes are provided which may be finely screened to provide control water from the flow chamber to the control chamber. The valves are diaphragm operated, close, and remain closed against the flow pressure and are thus normally closed. They are open by a rotating operating cam whose operating surface moves cylindrical balls out of the way so that pressure in the control compartment can be exerted against the upper operating surface of the diaphragm operating members. A pause control mechanism is included so that the valve movement can be stopped or paused at any position desired and since in so doing the valve member at that position is open, flow continues in the flow chamber. When the pause mechanism is released the impeller begins and continues to rotate causing the distributing valve to pick up and move on from where it was stopped.

Methods of relieving the suction force in a swimming pool or spa. A first method may include the steps of closing an aperture in a hydraulic suction fuse through magnetic force and opening the aperture by increasing suction force within the hydraulic suction fuse. Implementations of hydraulic suction fuses may also utilize a method of adjusting the fuse point of a hydraulic suction fuse. The method may include decoupling a magnet assembly from a first step having a first height, the first step contained in a fuse body contained in the hydraulic suction fuse. The method may also include rotating the magnet assembly and coupling the magnet assembly with a second step having a second height, the second step contained in the fuse body.

A swimming pool cleaning head. Implementations may include a cleaning head assembly having a housing having a cam assembly with an upper section, a lower section, and a rotatable section disposed between the upper section and the lower section. A stem having an outlet configured to eject a stream of water under water therethrough under water pressure force may also be included, the stem extending through the cam assembly. The stem may also include at least one pin slidably engaged within the cam assembly.
摘要:
A recessed incrementally rotating nozzle assembly is located in a wall or bottom surface of a swimming pool in fluid communication through a conduit with a source of water under pressure from a valve, which valve periodically releases water into the conduit. Each time water flows, a nozzle housing is raised to eject a stream of water. As the nozzle housing rises, it is incrementally rotated by a pin engaging a saw tooth member of a cam ring. Upon cessation of flow, the nozzle housing is retracted and during retraction the nozzle housing is further incrementally rotated by the pin engaging another saw tooth member of the cam ring. After a predetermined degree of angular rotation, a cam reverser slidably reorients protrusions guiding the pin into and out of the saw tooth members to cause the pin to be guided by the opposite side of the saw tooth members and thereby cause reversal of the direction of rotation of the nozzle housing. After the predetermined degree of rotation in the reverse direction has occurred, the direction of rotation is again reversed by the cam reverser. The angle through which rotation occurs is readily adjusted by substituting an appropriately configured pattern cam. The fan of water streams ejected may be readily reoriented to correspond with an area of interest by unlocking the position of a cam ring, angularly reorienting the cam ring and locking it in its new position.
