Abstract: A negative pressure wound therapy device includes a piezoelectric pump, a state detector configured to detect a state of the pump, and a control circuit configured to transmit a first control signal for a first period having a first RMS voltage greater than or equal to a threshold voltage at which driving the pump for a second period greater than the first period can cause the pump to emit sound at a magnitude greater than a sound threshold; receive a first indication of the state; determine if the pump is in a leak condition; transmit, responsive to the pump not being in the leak condition, a second control signal having a second RMS voltage less than the first RMS voltage; and transmit, responsive to the pump being in the leak condition, a third control signal having a third RMS voltage greater than the second RMS voltage.

Abstract: A dressing for treating a tissue site, particularly a peritoneal or abdominal site, is disclosed. The dressing may comprise: a substrate; an adherent layer coupled to a surface of the substrate; and a fibrous layer comprising fibers coupled to a surface of the adherent layer opposite the substrate. Typically, the fibrous layer satisfies one or more of the following: at least 75% of the fibers are coupled approximately perpendicular to the surface of the substrate; at least 95% of the fibers in the fibrous layer have a length to diameter aspect ratio from about 10 to about 1000; and no more than 10% of the fibers are coupled approximately tangential to the surface of the substrate. Optionally, the fibrous layer may be formed by a flocking process. Methods of treating various tissue sites using the dressings and negative-pressure therapy are also disclosed.

Abstract: Provided herein is a system and method for mitigating premature light deactivation of light deactivated adhesive drapes. One aspect provides a system comprising a drape, a photosensitive adhesive layer, and a release agent, where the system is adapted to be coupled to a tissue site and released therefrom upon or after exposure to an external stimulus such as certain wavelengths of light. The system may have a filter layer to prevent the photosensitive adhesive from being exposed to deactivation wavelengths prematurely. The filter layer may be printed directly onto the drape and may be removable after exposure to a solvent, such as isopropyl alcohol (IPA). The filter layer may also be a filter adhesive layer. Another aspect provides a method for application and removal of a drape using by removing one or more of the filter layer and/or the filter adhesive layer and applying light to the drape to deactivate the photosensitive adhesive layer and promote easy, clean, and less painful removal of the drape.

Abstract: This disclosure includes wound dressings and systems with remote oxygen generation for topical wound therapy and related methods. Some systems include a dressing for facilitating delivery of oxygen to the target tissue, the dressing having: a first manifold that defines a plurality of gas passageways and is configured to allow communication of oxygen to the target tissue; a gas-occlusive layer configured to be disposed over the first manifold and coupled to tissue surrounding the target tissue such that: an interior volume is defined between the gas-occlusive layer and the target tissue; and the gas-occlusive layer limits escape of oxygen from the interior volume between the gas-occlusive layer and the tissue surrounding the target tissue; a container outside the interior volume, the container having a sidewall that defines a chamber configured to be in fluid communication with the interior volume; and an oxygen-generating material disposed within the chamber of container and configured to release oxygen when exposed to water.

Abstract: Disclosed embodiments may relate to a fluid bridge configured to facilitate negative -pressure therapy when used in a vertical orientation and/or under compression, and to systems and methods related thereto. In some embodiments, the fluid bridge may comprise an open-cell foam support manifold within an envelope. The support manifold may be configured to reduce negative-pressure drop across the length of the fluid bridge and/or to maintain therapeutic levels of negative pressure, for example despite vertical orientation and/or use under a compression garment.
